Our hearts are filled with gratitude as the Champions of Hope Palliative Care Champions reflect on an unforgettable journey to Mombasa.

A heartfelt thank you to Kenya Railways ,SGR for generously sponsoring our First Class travel. Your kindness made this journey comfortable and memorable, allowing us to travel with dignity and hope.

We are equally grateful to our wonderful sponsor who provided our 4-day accommodation, giving us a place to rest, connect, and continue our mission of advocacy.

During our stay, we had the privilege of visiting Coast Hospice, where we shared our personal journeys in palliative care, the realities and challenges we face, and the importance of compassionate care.We were served with a sumptuous lunch too.

A special thank you to KEHPCA for always believing in us, cheering us on, and walking alongside us as we amplify the voices of people living with palliative care needs. Your encouragement means more than words can express.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to Mary Nafula and the entire Coast Hospice team for the warm welcome, hospitality, and meaningful engagement. Thank you for creating a safe space where stories were shared, hope was strengthened, and connections were built.

We are also deeply grateful to Stella Marine who treated us to a wonderful dinner at Forodhani Restaurant, mombasa. She is a dedicated registered nurse and a long time friend and supporter of Champions of Hope. Guided by compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to serving others. Her kindness reminded us that moments of joy, fellowship, and laughter are an important part of healing.

This trip was more than just a journey, it was a powerful reminder that palliative care is not the end of life. It is about living with dignity, hope, comfort, and purpose while ensuring that no one walks their journey alone.

To everyone who made this experience possible, thank you for believing in our voices and supporting our mission. Together, we continue to advocate, inspire, and remind the world that every person deserves compassionate care and every story deserves to be heard.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Yesterday's Palliative Care Day Care was truly a special and memorable day, and we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made it possible.

A special thank you to Kehpca - Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association led by their ED David Musyoki for creating time to join us and walk alongside our champions and families. It was an honour to host you, and we are deeply grateful for the thoughtful goodies and generous food packages you brought to support our families. Your kindness and compassion touched many hearts and reminded our champions that they are not alone.

We would also like to appreciate Nairobi Hospice for partnering with us in this monthly event and bringing the much needed medication and care closer to patients and families in the community. Your support means so much to us.

To our amazing comedian and MC, 'Mchungaji,' thank you for filling the day with laughter, joy, and hope. You reminded us that even within palliative care, there is room for smiles, humour, and beautiful moments of connection.

Our sincere appreciation goes to Valentine Cake House Limited for making the day even merrier by sponsoring and presenting us with a beautiful cake. Your generosity helped create a wonderful celebration for everyone present.

To the entire Champions of Hope Team, thank you for your dedication, commitment, and servant hearts. Your efforts continue to make a difference in the lives of so many families.

And to our brave Champions, thank you for showing up, even on the difficult days and through the pain. Your courage, strength, and resilience inspire us every day. We celebrate you, honour you, and are privileged to walk this journey with you.

Yesterday was a beautiful reminder that palliative care is not just about medical support, it is about community, compassion, dignity, love, and creating moments of joy along the journey.

Together, we continue to bring hope, comfort, joy, and dignity to every child and family we serve.

With gratitude,

Humour in Palliative Care đŸ˜…

22/05/2026

Laughter has a special way of healing hearts, even in the middle of difficult journeys.

At Champions of Hope, we recently introduced therapeutic humour into our palliative care program through a comedy session that filled the room with smiles, joy, and unforgettable moments of laughter.

For a moment, patients were able to relax, connect, laugh freely, and simply enjoy being present. It was a powerful reminder that palliative care is not only about treatment and support , it is also about comfort, emotional wellbeing, and creating moments that uplift the human spirit.
Hats off to 'Mchungaji ' who made their day!

Because every smile matters.
