COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ON MISINFORMATION, DISINFORMATION & HATE SPEECH

Yesterday, Alliance for African Assistance -Kenya joined other related partners in Ruiru for a community engagement session focused on misinformation, disinformation and hate speech.

The event brought together local community members, including refugees and the Area Chief to discuss the impact of misleading information and harmful speech on individuals and communities. Participants were encouraged to promote responsible information sharing, verify information before spreading it, and embrace peaceful coexistence.

Through such engagements, we continue working together with communities,partners and our local leaders to build awareness, strengthen social cohesion, and promote a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone.

Together, we build a community that values accurate information, respect, peace and inclusion.

Leadership Visit and Beneficiary Engagement

Yesterday, Alliance for African Assistance -Kenya was pleased to host the Founder and CEO of Alliance for African Assistance (AAA),Mr.Walter,at our office for an engagement interaction with our beneficiaries.

Before the office engagement, Mr.Walter, Ms Monica Kinyua (Country Director AAA-K), Rev.Otieno(Board member AAA-K) together with other stakeholders from other organizations, attended the launch of modern ablution facilities at Shammah Splendid School in Kibra.The initiative reflects the importance of promoting dignity, improved sanitation,and better living conditions within our communities.

Following the launch,the team proceeded to AAA-K offices, where they interacted with beneficiaries of different nationalities, listened to their experiences, and discussed the progress and impact of support provided by AAA-K.

We remain committed to working together with our beneficiaries and partners to build stronger,more resilient,and empowered communities.

Today, Alliance for African Assistance -Kenya staff led by Ms. Monica Kinyua(Country Director) held an engagement with Group leaders of different Nationalities at Alliance for African Assistance - Kenya office premises to deliberate on the strategies that could be set on timely repayment of loans by the beneficiaries as we approach the repayment deadline.

The discussion focused on strengthening communication with group members, promoting financial accountability, and ensuring that beneficiaries understand their repayment responsibilities which would enable them access more and better services from the organization.

We appreciate the commitment and cooperation of our group leaders as we continue working together to strengthen responsible financial practises and support the sustainability programs.

Today, Alliance for African Assistance -Kenya had the opportunity to participate in a Successful Youth Technical Working Group Meeting for the month of August held at Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) offices in Kawangware.

The meeting brought together representatives from different Organizations where we discussed ways on how we can engage Young Refugees and Young Kenyan Youths through Peer to Peer programs and explore ways of strengthening meaningful youth participation, collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

The discussions provided an opportunity for partners to share experiences, identify opportunities for collaboration, and reflect on approaches that can better support young refugees within our communities.
Much appreciation to all the organizations and partners who participated and countributed to the fruitful discussion. Together, through collaboration and shared learning, we can create stronger platforms for young people to connect, learn and thrive.

As Alliance for African Assistance - Kenya, we continue to support and empower our beneficiaries through regular business visits.

These visits provide an opportunity for our team to engage directly with beneficiaries, assess the progress of their businesses, understand the challenges they face, and offer guidance and support where needed.

Strengthening Financial Accountability Through Micro-Lending.

At Alliance for African Assistance - Kenya -we held a Micro -lending Phase II engagement meeting aimed at Strengthening beneficiaries' understanding of their responsibilities under the loan programme.

During the engagement, Mr. Evans Pasua, representing the Department of Refugees accompanied by Staff from AAA-K led by the Country Director Ms. Monica Kinyua, and Mr. Didier of UNHCR all addressed beneficiaries on key areas including loan expectations, repayment responsibilities, and the importance of financial accountability.

The session provided an opportunity for beneficiaries to better understand the importance of responsible loan management, timely repayment, and proper use of funds to support sustainable livelihoods.

As Alliance for African Assistance-Kenya, we remain committed to empowering Refugees through financial knowledge, access to opportunities,and continued engagement that promotes sustainable economic growth.

Today, Alliance for African Assistance - Kenya concluded the Capacity Building training for our first cohort.

The training provided participants with valuable knowledge and practical skills in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and life skills, equipping them with tools to make informed decisions, strengthen their livelihoods, and work towards a more sustainable future.

We are proud of the commitment, participation, and enthusiasm demonstrated by all our beneficiaries throughout the training sessions. This marks not an end, but the beginning of putting the knowledge and skills gained into practice.

A big thanks to our trainer, staff led by Our Country Director Ms. Monica Kinyua and Our Participants for making this first cohort a success.
