The Platcorp Foundation was established in 2020 as the not-for-profit sustainable investment vehicle for Platcorp Group.

The Foundation supports innovative and sustainable conservation and community development projects through a mix of impact-first and philanthropic investments. Through the Foundation, Platcorp supports the development of bankable solutions for key environmental and social challenges such as conservation, food, water, energy, and climate change. Support is designed to be catalytic in that it helps

to mobilize greater investment or support for target projects, organizations and landscapes by leveraging the Foundation’s networks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), impact investors, and capital markets. By taking an active role in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of projects, the Foundation aims to build long-lasting partnerships and grow sustainable business models.

Mangroves protect more than just coastlines. They protect our future. 🌳🌊🛡️

This , we are taking you deep into the roots of the Lamu Archipelago. Mangroves are the ultimate guardians of our planet, acting as a natural shield against rising tides and harsh storms, while storing up to ten times more carbon than terrestrial forests. 🌍✨

But for the communities in Lamu, they are even more than a climate shield. They are nurseries for fish, directly sustaining local fisheries and feeding families. 🐟💼

Through our partnership with Lamu Marine Conservation Trust, our patrols monitor and protect these critical habitats from illegal logging, ensuring that this vital connection between people and planet remains unbroken. Protecting mangroves means protecting livelihoods, climate resilience, and future generations.

This , we’re taking you aboard our latest patrol across the Lamu Bay JCMA! 🌊

From the dense mangrove forests to the vibrant coral reefs of the Lamu Archipelago, our marine ecosystems are entirely interconnected. 🪸

Our partner Lamu Marine Conservation Trust team is on the front lines, tackling real-time challenges - from ensuring compliance with fisheries regulations to checking fishing gear and licenses. But enforcement is only one piece of the puzzle. The very fishers we encounter on these patrols are those who depend on, and benefit from, the thriving Kinyika Rock ecosystem. 🛡️

Through the Kinyika Seasonal Closure, local communities are taking the lead in a nature-based solution. By strengthening governance and protecting these critical spawning grounds, we aren’t just conserving biodiversity: we are driving fisheries recovery and securing sustainable livelihoods for generations to come.

True resilience happens when nature-based solutions are backed by strong local institutions and coordinated enforcement. Together, we are making waves for ocean protection! 🌊💙

🌿 Conservation Beyond Boundaries

While the Platcorp Foundation, in collaboration with Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust, continues its conservation work in the South Western Mau and Kakamega Forest, we're equally proud to support Kenya's wider conservation efforts through the legendary Rhino Charge. 🦏

Held in the spectacular landscapes of Ngilai Community Conservancy in Samburu County, this year's event raised an incredible KES 365.4 million to help protect Kenya's forests, water towers, and wildlife. 💚

We were honoured to sponsor Car 12, which has proudly participated in the Rhino Charge for the past 18 years, contributing to an event that demonstrates the power of collective action in conservation. 👏

Every contribution helps protect more than 570,000 hectares of Kenya's forests through habitat restoration, electric fencing to reduce human-wildlife conflict, and community conservation initiatives.

Together, we're investing in a future where communities, wildlife, and natural ecosystems thrive.🌍

Strengthening community conservation through technology 🌍💚

Together with Ramani Geosystems, teams from Mbokishi Conservation Area and Enonkishu Conservancy recently took part in training on the Ramani Land Information Management System (R-LIMS) in the Maasai Mara.

The training equipped conservancy staff with the skills to manage land leases, access vital land information, and maintain accurate digital records through a centralised platform.

Strong conservation starts with strong systems. By investing in technology and local capacity, we're helping build more efficient, transparent and sustainable land management that supports both communities and wildlife.

🌿Conservation starts with communities🌿

Community Conservation Champions are local volunteers who help protect forests, raise environmental awareness, support restoration efforts, and inspire positive change in their communities.

Through our partnership with Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust, we're proud to support this growing network of conservation leaders in Kakamega Forest and South West Mau.

We are proud to partner with Suqoon Kenya on a six-month pilot project in Sagana, Kirinyaga County, focused on promoting healthy ageing, strengthening intergenerational solidarity, and supporting sustainable livelihoods for older persons.

Through intergenerational self-help groups, community dialogues, and healthy ageing awareness forums, the project will create opportunities for older persons and younger generations to learn from one another, build stronger social connections, and promote more inclusive communities.

The pilot will also support community-based income-generating activities designed to enhance economic resilience and well-being among older persons.
We look forward to supporting this community-led initiative and exploring how stronger intergenerational engagement can contribute to healthier, more connected, and more resilient communities.
