On Friday, 11th September, we opened the doors of Buildher to the families, friends, partners and support networks standing behind our Cohort 17 trainees.
Family Day is more than a day of tours and workshops. It is an opportunity for those closest to our trainees to see what their loved ones have chosen to pursue, understand the skills they are building, and experience the journey that is shaping their future.
Across our carpentry, cabinetry, tiling, painting and solar workshops, families watched trainees turn learning into practical skills. They met Buildher alumnae who are now building careers and businesses in construction, and saw what can become possible when a woman is given the skills, opportunity and support to build a different future.
There were questions, conversations, pride and, perhaps most importantly, a deeper understanding of what this journey means.
Because choosing a skilled career is a life-changing decision. And when families and communities understand that decision, they can become a stronger part of the support that helps women stay the course, grow in confidence and step into opportunities they once may not have imagined.
At Buildher, we are not only training women to build. We are building the confidence, opportunity and support systems that enable women to shape their own futures and changing who builds the future.
