🌍♻️ World Environment Day 2026: Turning Waste Into Opportunity

As we celebrate World Environment Day, Koma Youth Enterprise proudly marks a significant milestone with the establishment of a Buy-Back Centre at our Material Recovery Facility, made possible through the support of Taka Ni Mali Foundation and United Nations Development Programme - UNDP.

This investment strengthens our mission of creating cleaner communities while empowering waste entrepreneurs with sustainable livelihood opportunities. The Buy-Back Centre will improve waste recovery, increase recycling rates, create green jobs, and provide a reliable market for recyclable materials collected by waste pickers and youth entrepreneurs.

World Environment Day reminds us that environmental protection and economic empowerment go hand in hand. By investing in circular economy solutions, we are not only reducing waste pollution but also transforming lives and building resilient communities.

We thank TakaTaka Ni Mali Foundation and UNDP Kenya for believing in our vision.

♻️ Empowering Waste Entrepreneurs for a Circular Future

Koma Youth Enterprise was honored to participate in a consultative co-design forum hosted by Taka Ni Mali, bringing together waste entrepreneurs to shape inclusive and sustainable circular economy business models.

The forum explored opportunities to move beyond waste collection and aggregation towards value addition, green entrepreneurship, and circular economy solutions. It also provided a platform to identify challenges, share experiences, and co-create practical pathways for growth and sustainability.

We appreciate Taka Ni Mali Foundation and all stakeholders for investing in waste entrepreneurs and recognizing their critical role in building a cleaner environment and stronger communities.

Together, we are transforming waste into opportunity, creating green jobs, and empowering lives.

The conversations highlighted waste segregation at source as a critical systemic solution, and schools involvedment one that not only enables efficient waste management but also unlocks meaningful value addition across all waste fractions' through digital platform like eco-mali
