Menstrual Hygiene Day | May 28
No girl should miss school or feel shame because of her period.

At NKF, we’re committed to dignity kits, education, and policy change — so every girl in Kenya can manage her period with pride.

It’s not just about pads — it’s about power.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made our Free Eye Clinic a success!

We’re incredibly grateful to Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital, Hon. Sicily K. Kariuki, the Noni Kariuki Foundation, and all the amazing medical professionals, volunteers, and partners who gave their time and expertise.

Overwhelmed by the turnout and touched by the stories we heard—from life-changing cataract surgeries to life-saving diabetes screenings. Your support made it all possible.

Together, we’re creating healthier, brighter communities—one vision at a time.

May 28th is Menstrual Hygiene Day. Every year, this day is observed to create awareness about the importance of good menstrual hygiene practices and to emphasize the significance of access of menstrual products to all women and girls. The day is also used to openly discuss taboos and stigma associated with menstruation in some countries.

Noni Kariuki Foundation celebrated the day with girls of Nyandarua School for Deaf Primary. They took time to mentor the pupils, while sharing goodies including hygiene packs.

Did you know that Noni Kariuki Foundation operates in Embu County.

If not, now you do,😊
NKF has its operations in Embu County and for that reason the NKF team was in the county to distribute sanitary towels to the girls in; St. Mary Magdalene School of the Deaf, Embu Special School and St. Luke's Primary School for the Deaf.

We continue to honor our commitment and do our part in ending and it's effects in our communities

The very first time a girl receives her period, should be something to look forward to. Unfortunately because this a taboo subject in many communities, the very first time a girl has her period is shrouded with mystery shame. Introduction to the subject of changing bodies should be done in positivity for our young girls to understand and embrace what is happening to their bodies.

Often times girls feel they need to shrink back, hide out and cower away from the public. This can be changed if we change the conversation from one of period shame to being one of pride.
