Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the State Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries, is promoting Aquaculture Co-management (ACM) as a pathway to more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient aquaculture systems.

This week, aquaculture experts convened to validate a suite of technical tools, studies, and knowledge products designed to support the implementation of the Aquaculture Co-management Guidelines. The validation process focused on strengthening the Ecosystem Approach to Aquaculture, ensuring that aquaculture development balances environmental sustainability, economic viability, and social responsibility.

Through the European Union in Kenya ; the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) trained community groups in Aitong' in County on value addition, quality assurance, and sustainable beekeeping practices.

The training will help the communities improve honey quality, increase market access, and household incomes.

FAO Kenya supported Kenya Integrated Agricultural Management Information System and the Green Climate Fund funded Programme, implemented by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in partnership with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics and the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB), commenced an agricultural data validation exercise across 14 counties in western Kenya.

The exercise was officially launched by the FAO Representative in Kenya Farayi Zimudzi, together with the KNBS Director General MacDonald Obudho, representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, and the LREB Chief Executive Officer Dr. Victor Nyagaya, with concurrent validation sessions taking place in Kisii and Bungoma counties.

Once validated, the data will be integrated into , strengthening evidence-based planning, decision-making, and agricultural investments.

A great milestone has been achieved in the development of the Competency-Based Agroecology Curriculum and Training Package at KAIMOSI AGRICULTURAL TRAINING CENTRE following a successful validation exercise attended by the Kaimosi Board of Management and FAO Kenya

The validation, which was guided by the Board Chairman Hon. Felix Koskei, Head of Public Service, marks the final stage towards the formalization and adoption of the curriculum. The session was attended by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative in Kenya, Farayi Zimudzi, accompanied by Assistant FAO Representative (Programmes), Hamisi Williams, and Washington Adede

Once finalized, the curriculum will position ATC as a centre of excellence for agroecology training, equipping farmers, extension officers and other value chain actors with practical, hands-on skills to enhance agricultural productivity while safeguarding natural resources and the environment.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has handed over laptops, printers and tablets to the 14 Lake Region Economic Bloc county focal points to strengthen coordination, planning, reporting and communication across the project area.

The equipment will support county focal points, monitoring and evaluation teams, and Farmer Field School (FFS) facilitators to access the Climate Information Management System, agricultural production databases, and other digital tools essential for effective project implementation.

By investing in digital tools and knowledge sharing, FAO is strengthening climate-resilient agrifood systems and supporting farmers to make informed decisions for improved productivity and food security.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Representative in Kenya, Farayi Zimudzi, met with Ngo B. Anny Caroll, Secretary General of the African Rural and Agricultural Credit Association , and discussed on advancing agricultural finance and rural development.

They explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in key areas, including digital financial services, partnerships with agritech and fintech innovators, expanded access to rural credit, and innovative financing solutions that promote food security, support the blue economy, and strengthen resilient agrifood systems.

Senstor Mutahi Kagwe Office of the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Dev't and the Principal Secretary for State Department for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration under the Hand-in-Hand Initiative , enhancing Government participation and support towards the coffee value chain, and preparations for the upcoming Food Security Summit and the 3rd Global Parliamentary Summit Against Hunger and Malnutrition.

Kenya and Tanzania are deepening collaboration to prevent and control , improve systems, and promote safe and competitive livestock trade across the region.

Through joint surveillance, synchronized disease control efforts, and strengthened information sharing, the two countries are helping protect the livelihoods of pastoral communities while supporting food security and economic growth.

Young Climate Champions are leading the way in building resilient and nutritious food systems.

Through in and counties, school children are learning practical skills in nutrition-sensitive climate-smart agriculture. From establishing school gardens and growing nutrient-rich crops to promoting sustainable farming practices and environmental conservation, these young learners are becoming agents of change in their schools and communities.
