Development cooperation is changing. But who gets to shape what comes next?
For too long, development conversations have often focused on what is being delivered to countries, rather than how priorities are shaped together.
The future of development cooperation should mean stronger partnerships where African countries and civil society have a meaningful voice in defining priorities, shaping policies and influencing decisions.
Because development is not simply about providing support. It is about working together, sharing knowledge, strengthening local ownership and creating solutions that respond to people’s realities.
The question is not only how much development cooperation we provide, but how we cooperate, who decides, and whose priorities are reflected.
