Found in a small region along the Kenya–Somalia border, hirola populations have declined dramatically due to habitat loss, drought, predation, disease, and other environmental pressures. Protecting this critically endangered species requires safeguarding its remaining habitat and supporting the ecosystems and communities connected to it.
