UDV is a Community-Driven, Non-Profit PBO of and for the Deaf, founded to make a lasting impact in the Deaf community. A Precious Afternoon. A Powerful Reminder.

Today, Ubuntu Deaf Vanguard had the privilege of visiting Chekombero Special School for the Deaf in Sabatia, Vihiga County, for a Deaf Students Mentorship Programme.

It was a beautiful afternoon filled with attentive faces, thoughtful participation and meaningful interaction. The students were calm, engaged and eager to learn.

Through this outreach, we shared encouragement, guidance and life experiences—because Deaf students deserve the same access to mentorship, inspiration and opportunity as every other learner.

We believe that mentorship is not just about speaking to students. It is about listening to them, believing in them and helping them see the possibilities ahead.

Every Deaf child deserves:

💚 Encouragement and mentorship.
💛 Equal opportunity.
💙 A supportive environment.
💚 The confidence to dream and achieve.

This is what Deaf Awareness Month should inspire: not only awareness, but meaningful action.

The 366 KM Walk for Inclusion by Rodgers Swahili, shall commence on Tuesday 1st September 2026 at 7:30 AM, at Sabatia Sub-County, at Deputy County Commissioner's office, and end on Saturday 5th September, 2026 in Nairobi City County.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — 366 KM WALK FOR INCLUSION.

Ubuntu Deaf Vanguard is calling on passionate volunteers, organisations and partners to join Rodgers Swahili during the 366 KM Walk for Inclusion.

📍 Sabatia, Vihiga County → Nairobi
📅 1st–5th September 2026
🚶 366 KM | 5 Days | 6 Counties

This national awareness and inclusion campaign will promote:
✅ Disability inclusion.
✅ Accessibility.
✅ Deaf rights.
✅ Kenyan Sign Language awareness.
✅ Education.
✅ Equal opportunity.
✅ Dignity and participation.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO:
1. Walk with Rodgers — for as far as you can.
2. 🎥 Live Recording — capture stories, interviews, community interactions and important moments.
3. 📱 Social Media & Content — help share photographs, videos, updates and messages across our platforms.
4. Other Support Roles — logistics, coordination, documentation, mobilisation and other areas where you can contribute.

This is a movement for a more inclusive Kenya.

Only 5 Days remain until Rodgers Swahili of Ubuntu Deaf Vanguard begins this extraordinary five-day journey from Sabatia, Vihiga County, to Nairobi.

This is more than a walk. It is a national call for Education, Communication, Opportunity, Dignity, and Inclusion—and a reminder that no one should be left behind.

We invite corporates, organizations, institutions, development partners, and well-wishers to walk with us.

🇰🇪 366 KM WALK FOR INCLUSION

One Journey. Five Days. Six Counties. One National Call for Inclusion.

Ubuntu Deaf Vanguard is taking a powerful message of inclusion across Kenya.

From Sabatia, Vihiga County, to Nairobi, our Founder and Chairperson, Rodgers Swahili, a Deaf Kenyan disability-inclusion advocate, will undertake a 366 KM Walk for Inclusion.

This is more than a walk.

It is a national call for:
1. EDUCATION — Every child deserves the opportunity to learn.

2. COMMUNICATION — Communication is access.

3. OPPORTUNITY— Potential should not be determined by disability, poverty, or circumstance.

4. DIGNITY — Every human being deserves dignity and belonging.

5. INCLUSION — No one should be left behind.

The journey begins with lived experience as a Deaf person. Still, its purpose extends far beyond the Deaf community—to persons with disabilities, children, youth, women, vulnerable communities, and society as a whole.

You do not have to walk 366 KM to be part of this movement.

You can support, partner, volunteer, provide resources, amplify the message, create opportunities, or simply stand with us.

Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil, Nakuru county, 🇰🇪 has lost several students, and others rushed to hospitals, after dormitories caught fire at night.
We, at Ubuntu Deaf Vanguard and its affiliates, including Paradise Inclusive Community Academy - PICA Pray for, and ask you to Pray for Utumishi Girls Academy.
We send our Condolences to parents and families who have lost their daughters.
We wish Quick Recovery to those hospitalized.
