"How many fathers have ever bought sanitary pads for their girls?"
During a community dialogue in Kimasiany, Kajiado County, this question, posed by School Head Teacher, John Simel, sparked one of the most honest conversations of the day.
The room responded with a mixture of surprise, reflection, resistance, and curiosity. While some participants viewed the question as a challenge to rethink traditional caregiving roles, others maintained that such responsibilities belong to mothers.
Yet it is through these difficult conversations that communities begin to examine long-held beliefs and consider new ways of supporting children and families.
At GRiC Africa, we continue to create spaces where communities, local leaders, educators, faith leaders, and families can engage in meaningful dialogue on issues that shape everyday life.
Because lasting change often begins with honest communication.
