We're opening the Youth Climate Mapping Fellowship to 33 youth groups. Each group has 20 members.

Fellows will:

• Learn mapping skills, free
• Map climate risks in their area
• Run a climate action in their community
• Earn a $400 group grant and a digital certificate

DRC is facing its 17th Ebola outbreak. HOT is mapping roads, settlements, and buildings to support the response, tracing supply routes, tracking outbreak hotspots, and helping teams navigate unfamiliar towns.

Last month we hosted a webinar, Invisible No More: Closing the Gender Data Gap in Humanitarian Emergencies, bringing together Ana Cristína João Manuel from Instituto Nacional de Gestão e Redução do Risco de Desastres - INGD, Pilar Pacheco from Gates Foundation as well as Veronica Chico and Omowonuola Akintola from the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) to talk about why women's knowledge goes missing when disasters hit and what it

The communities that need accurate maps the most are often the ones missing from them. Here's what we're doing about it together.

We are partnering with Shack Dwellers International Kenya (SDI Kenya) to train community youth and students across 33 informal settlements in Nairobi, building their capacity in open geospatial tools, drone imagery, and Earth observation technology so they can create maps that reflect local knowledge and inform decisions that affect their lives.
