To the mums in the climate space—thank you for nurturing not only your families, but also a healthier, safer, and more sustainable future for generations to come. Your strength, resilience, and dedication inspire real change every day.

SEHub at the SUN ESA Civil Society Network Regional Meeting – Day 4

Day 4 of the regional gathering of the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement Civil Society Network brought together policymakers, civil society leaders, and development partners to advance the theme:

“Strengthening Accountable Food Systems for Nutrition Security and Health.”

Powerful reflections emerged from the discussions:

🌱 Food security begins with seed security.
🤝 Moving from “government vs civil society” to “government with civil society.”
📊 Every $1 invested in nutrition can generate $23 in returns.

Participants also developed action plans, financing strategies, and partnership pathways to accelerate nutrition outcomes across the region.

For SEHub, the message is clear:
Transforming food systems requires accountability, collaboration, and community voices at the center.

Day Two at the Scaling Up Nutrition Civil Society Network ESA Regional Meeting in Gaborone challenged us to think beyond production — toward accountable food systems for nutrition security and health.

From fish nutrition to N4G tracking, the message was clear:
Data must inform policy. Rights must guide action. Partnerships must drive impact.

Accountability is how food systems become nutrition systems.

Organic Waste Reality Check

A large percentage of organic waste is still being thrown away, while only a small portion is reused for composting, animal feed, and sustainable farming.

At Safe Environment Hub, we are working to change this by promoting:

1. Proper waste separation
2.Black Soldier Fly farming
3. Climate-smart solutions
4.Community awareness

Every banana peel, leftover food, and vegetable waste has value. Let’s stop wasting and start transforming.

Together, we can turn waste into opportunity.
