Workers at King, the Swedish studio behind Candy Crush Saga, have won a collective agreement ✊

Members of Sveriges Ingenjörer and Unionen pushed for it for more than a year. On 15 September, both unions served strike notice. King has now signed.

King workersnow have a secured right to organize and a stronger voice at work. The company must also give them proper notice of changes such as reorganizations.

“We never gave up,” said Henrik Jönsson of the Unionen branch at King.

It’s the second win at an Activision Blizzard company this month. Earlier in September, our US affiliate the Communications Workers of America won AI guardrails and strong layoff protections at Blizzard.

Games workers are organizing, and they’re winning.

✊ Having the right to join a union and bargain collectively is proven to be the best way for workers to secure better wages and working conditions. That is what our global agreement with TP - the world’s largest provider of outsourced business services - is all about: enabling workers to organize and bargain for the changes they want. Two new wins show it works.

🇰🇪 In Kenya, UNI affiliate COWU - Kenya has signed the first union recognition agreement in the country's digital and tech sector, covering some 2,000 workers at TP.

🇨🇴 In Colombia, contact centre workers and their union Sindicato de las telecomunicaciones servicios y call center have renewed their collective agreement for a further two years, securing bonuses, union recognition, neutrality and organizing rights.

A HISTORIC MILESTONE FOR COWU-K AND THE BPO SECTOR IN AFRICA

Communication workers Union of Kenya (COWU-K) has officially achieved a monumental victory for Digital and Tech workers across the region by signing a land mark Recognition Agreement with The Global Outsourcing Giant Teleperformance Kenya (TP)
The signing ceremony was attended by COWU-K General Secretary, Mr. Benson Okwaro; Deputy General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Okoto; Teleperformance CEO, Mr. Sven De carter; and Vice President, People Operations, Mr. B. Santanu, among other representatives.

The agreement marks a historic milestone not only for COWU-K and Teleperformance workers, but for the wider labour movement in Africa. It represents an important step towards strengthening social dialogue, workers' representation, collective bargaining, and decent work within the Technology sector and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

This achievement is particularly significant because it is the first of its kind between a trade union and a Technology (Tech) company in Africa, setting an important precedent for workers in the rapidly growing digital economy.

COWU-K, commends Teleperformance Kenya (BPO) for demonstrating their openness, professionalism and commitment to constructive engagement and partnership. We equally commend our members for their resilience, commitment and determination in reaching this historic milestone. This agreement opens a new chapter where workers and management can work together to promote decent work, fair labour practices, productivity and sustainable growth in the Tech sector.

Today, we celebrate not just the signing of an agreement, but the opening of a new chapter where technology, innovation and decent work move together and where the workers driving Africa's digital transformation have a recognised seat at the negotiating table.
COWU-K takes pride in this achievement arising from determination, organizing, perseverance and a firm belief that workers in the digital economy deserve the same dignity, protection and collective voice in every other sector.

Once again Congratulation to COWU-K and Teleperformance Kenya on this great achievement.

Workers united. Workers represented. Workers empowered.

Bravo! ✊
