The media landscape is changing. Across Europe and Africa, AI, economic pressure, and global information competition are accelerating the spread of distorted and manipulative content — making information integrity a democracy issue, not just a media one.

This creates an urgent need for practical democratic resilience: identifying early warning signals and strengthening decision quality, integrity, and legitimacy in public information environments.

Our Regional Representative Uta Staschewski and Head of Programmes Robertson Kabucho travelled to Brussels to exchange perspectives on these challenges with Oliver Schenk, Member of the European Parliament, Zubeidah Kananu of the Kenya Editors’ Guild, who trains young journalists, and Nancy Booker from the Graduate School of Media and Communications at Aga Khan University — and to explore how joint approaches can be shaped going forward.

On Friday, we brought together trainers, policymakers, industry leaders, and fleet managers in Nairobi to tackle one big question:
how do we accelerate e-mobility in Kenya? ⚡

From aligning TVET training with real industry needs, to unlocking private investment and shaping enabling policy, the conversation was clear—skills, systems, and partnerships must move together.

Kenya’s e-motorcycle market is accelerating 🚀
Between 2018 and 2023, it grew at an impressive 98%, proving that demand for electric two-wheelers is real—and growing fast.

At the “Advancing Inclusive Two-Wheeler E-Mobility in Kenya” Conference & Exhibition organized by our partners LifeSkills Promoters - LISP, we saw the expanding market firsthand: motorcycles, scooters, and e-bikes, with strong participation from Kenyan companies showing the sector’s potential to create green jobs and boost the economy.

Challenges remain—limited charging infrastructure and a lack of standardized training systems. Together with , we’re working to change that and build the skills needed to scale e-mobility sustainably. 🌱⚡
