🌱 Strengthening Plant Health Through Knowledge Sharing

Across KCOA work, one thing remains clear, access to practical knowledge is key to building resilient, sustainable food systems.

Through the KCOA Knowledge Platform, several resources continue to support learning and action on natural plant protection and soil health, empowering farmers, trainers, and practitioners with simple, effective agroecological solutions:

📘 From KHEA; Biological agroecological plant health protection

🌿 From KHEA; The Benefits and How-to Guide of Compost Tea for Healthier Plants and Soil;https://kcoa-africa.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Compost-tea.pdf

🧪 From KHSA; How to make and use fermented biofertilisers;

🥬 From KHNA; Prevention and Treatment of Diseases and Pests in Vegetable Farming;https://kcoa-africa.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/KP-28.-Prevention-et-traitement-des-maladies-et-ravageurs-en-maraichage.pdf

These resources are not just information, they are practical tools for healthier soils, stronger crops, and more resilient farming systems.

Let’s continue to learn, share, and apply knowledge for sustainable agriculture.

We are pleased to share that the upcoming WYNA Global Café webinar on “Digital Pathways to Agroecology Transition,” taking place on 7th May, will bring together a diverse group of experts from across the agroecology and organic agriculture community.

The session will feature presenters from Biovision Africa Trust and PELUM Uganda, alongside other key contributors, to explore how digital platforms are supporting agroecology transitions across Africa.

Discussions will highlight the role of the Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture (KCOA) Platform in advancing Phase III priorities, particularly on capacity building, knowledge management, and knowledge dissemination. Through this work, KCOA continues to strengthen access to agroecological knowledge, support learning exchanges, and promote the sharing of practical solutions for sustainable food systems.

This webinar provides an important space for dialogue on how digital innovation can accelerate the transition towards more resilient and sustainable agriculture systems.

🌱 Field engagement continues to shape how we deliver impact across KHEA!

Our ongoing KHEA Monitoring and Support Supervision Visits with PELUM Kenya Association are not just about tracking progress but they are about learning, connecting, and improving how we work together.

Through these visits, we are able to:
✔️ See real progress on the ground
✔️ Learn directly from communities and partners
✔️ Strengthen collaboration across the network
✔️ Respond to challenges as they arise

The team, represented by the KHEA Project Communications Officer-Pamella Magino , the KHEA M&E officer - Lennox Ouma and KHEA Accountant CPA Ephraim I. from Biovision Africa Trust (the lead coordinating agency of the KCOA-KHEA Project), together with Participatory Ecological Land Use Management - PELUM Uganda (Co-Host of the project), is working closely with PELUM Kenya Association to support implementation and strengthen key project systems under the KHEA initiative.

These moments of reflection and learning are key to ensuring that our work remains relevant, responsive, and impactful.

Because monitoring isn’t just about checking boxes, it’s about making sure change is truly happening where it matters most. 💚

🌿FROM BALCONY TO BASKET – A TRUE SUCCESS STORY!

Jean Marie a KHEA Master Trainer trained by IFOAM - Organics International on the KCOA Project has turned a simple balcony space into a flourishing organic garden!

What started as a small urban space is now a productive garden providing fresh, healthy food while inspiring others in the community to try organic farming.

This is a powerful reminder that with the right training, even the smallest spaces can create big impact.

Agroecology is not just farming, it is transformation!

🌍 Earlier this month, we marked Earth Day 🌱

It was a moment to reflect on the importance of protecting our planet and accelerating action towards sustainable food systems.

One of the key enablers of this transformation is strong, coordinated policy that integrates agroecological and ecological approaches across sectors.

At KHEA, we continue to support knowledge sharing, capacity building, and policy engagement to drive this change.

🌿 Earlier this month, we marked World Health Day 🌿

It was a moment to reflect on the importance of natural health solutions and the role herbs continue to play in supporting community wellbeing.

Through agroecology, communities are able to grow, use, and preserve herbal knowledge in sustainable ways.

At KHEA, we are proud to contribute to this knowledge sharing.
