Today, we celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of women everywhere.

At Amani Blossoms, we honour the women who rise after pain, who rebuild after hardship, and who choose hope even after experiencing violence.

Every survivor’s journey is a powerful reminder that healing is possible and that no woman walks alone.

We believe in a world where every woman lives free from violence, supported by community, dignity, and opportunity to thrive.

To every woman:
Your voice matters
Your story matters
Your future matters

Together, let us continue to stand, support, and uplift one another.
Happy International Women’s Day!

Together, We Rise Against Gender-Based Violence

This November, as South Africa raises its voice against gender-based violence, Amani Blossoms stands shoulder to shoulder with survivors, advocates, and allies across Africa.

Every story matters. Every survivor deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to thrive.

At Amani Blossoms, we see the strength that blooms from pain, and we know that when women heal, families heal, communities heal, and nations heal.

Let’s keep speaking out. Let’s keep showing up.
Ending violence begins with each of us choosing love over control, respect over fear, and healing over silence.

The Silent Wounds of Witnessing Abuse

We've read countless books and articles about the effects of an absent father on children. But what about the fathers who are present—yet abusive?

Studies show that 90% of children in homes with domestic violence witness the abuse firsthand (UNICEF).

The impact? Higher risks of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and even replicating toxic relationships in adulthood.

Research also reveals that boys who witness domestic violence are 3 times more likely to become abusers, while girls are twice as likely to experience abusive relationships (APA).

So, what scars a child more—an absent father or an abusive one? It's time we ask the hard questions. It's time we act.

If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, seek support. Ending the cycle starts now.

Leaving an abusive situation is never easy, but no survivor should have to do it alone. With strong support systems—friends, family, and community organizations—survivors are more likely to break free and rebuild their lives.
How can we support survivors?
✔️ Listen without judgment
✔️ Offer emotional and practical support
✔️ Connect them to resources and safe spaces
✔️ Stand with them, not against them

Together, we can create a world where survivors feel safe, heard, and empowered. Let’s be the support they need.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let’s remember that true empowerment includes the right to live free from fear and abuse.

Too many women still suffer in silence due to domestic violence. This day is not just about honoring women’s achievements but also about demanding a world where every woman is safe, valued, and respected.

Let’s stand together, amplify survivors’ voices, and work toward a future where no woman has to endure violence. Empowered women empower the world!

Domestic violence doesn’t just affect the direct victim—it deeply impacts children who witness it.

Growing up in an abusive environment can lead to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and difficulty forming healthy relationships.

Some children become withdrawn, while others act out in pain and confusion.

No child should have to live in fear. Protecting them from violence means giving them a chance at a healthier, brighter future.

Healing from domestic violence is more than just leaving an unsafe environment—it’s about reclaiming your peace, confidence, and self-worth.

Psychological therapy provides a safe space to process trauma, rebuild emotional strength, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Every survivor deserves support, understanding, and the opportunity to heal. If you or someone you know is struggling, remember: healing is possible, and help is available.

Sometimes, the most powerful support we can offer someone in an abusive situation is simply being there. Listen without judgment.

Believe them. Could you let them know they are not alone? Your kindness and patience can be a lifeline as they navigate their journey to safety and healing.

If you suspect someone is in danger, offer resources, not pressure. Every survivor needs support on their own terms.
