A little update from the Fikia Dada building project 🏠
It’s been pole pole, but a steady and faithful process. We’re now down to a few remaining details to make the house fully habitable.

We are truly grateful for the journey, the process, and everyone who has believed in the work we do. Step by step, we are creating a safe, nurturing space for girls to grow, heal, and thrive.

✨ Celebrating Our Fikia Dada Graduates ✨

Everything that has a beginning surely has its completion. Today, we celebrate four incredible young women — Cate, Faith, Mitchell, and Cynthia — who have completed their four-year high school journey. What a testimony of grace, resilience, and God’s unfailing timing.

At the Fikia Dada Centre, our mission and vision have always been clear: to walk with our girls one day at a time, meeting their basic needs, nurturing their dreams, and standing in the gap where hope seems faint. From the first day the centre was established, we have continued to witness how God is never too late and never too early — He shows up right at the moment when giving up feels easier. And through these girls, we have seen His faithfulness again and again.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has played a role — mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, and emotionally — to help these young women pursue their education. Because of your support, they have been shielded from early marriages, rescued from dropping out of school, lifted from low self-esteem, and given a chance to dream boldly.

To all our amazing donors, sponsors, and well-wishers: thank you. This journey would not have been possible without your consistent love, generosity, and belief in the potential of every girl who walks through our doors.

Happy International Day of the Girl Child 2025🙌🏽
Today, we join the world in celebrating the strength, resilience, and limitless potential of every girl. The Day of the Girl Child reminds us that when we empower a girl, we transform families, communities, and entire nations.

This year’s theme, “The Girl I Am, the Change I Lead,” highlights the powerful role girls play, not just as future leaders, but as changemakers today. Across the world, girls are standing on the frontlines of change, advocating for education, protecting the planet, speaking out against injustice, and breaking barriers that once held them back.

Yet, many girls continue to face challenges, limited access to education, early marriages, and gender-based discrimination. On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to create safe spaces, open opportunities, and amplify girls’ voices so they can rise and lead confidently.

Let us celebrate every girl, her dreams, her courage, and her ability to change the world.

Meet Catherine Sialala – aka Cate 💫

Cate joined the Fikia Dada family in 2020, just two months before Covid hit. She and her sister Hawa were rescued from the threat of early marriage and FGM, thanks to the tireless work of activist Peter Namasika. Through this intervention, we were able to provide them with a safe home and a chance at a brighter future.

At only 12 years old, Cate stepped into Fikia Dada with big dreams. 🌸 Today, we are beyond excited to celebrate her journey—because in just a few weeks, Cate will be completing high school! 🎓✨

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of her amazing sponsors, donors, and the entire Fikia Dada family. 🙌 Because of you, education became possible—and through education, freedom is unlocked.

Join us in cheering Cate on as she prepares to sit for her KCSE exams. We believe she will rise to become a true change agent in her community. 💪🌍

A little update on the Fikia Dada Organization,we were so excited to have the girls back home for the April break.Its always great to hear of their progress at school.Apart from education Fikia Dada is also very keen on the girls personal development.The month of May being Mental awareness month we managed to have an interactive,fun,informative session on Personal development.Self-awareness is a journey and every day is an opportunity to learn something about self.We engaged an external facilitator who covered the following topics with our girls both in theory and practical😊:

✨EFFECTIVE HABITS FOR TEENAGERS
✅Setting end goals/vision.
✅Being proactive thus taking responsibilities seriously.
✅Sharpening the saw which is being open to continuous learning in all dimensions (mentally, spiritually, physically, socially)
✅Conflict resolution
✅Setting priorities right

Gender Equality and Empowerment
✅Education gives girls confidence, decision-making power, and the ability to challenge discrimination.
✅It reduces child marriage rates, as educated girls are more likely to marry later and have fewer, healthier children.

As of February 2025, Fikia Dada Rescue Centre continues to provide comprehensive support to young women who have experienced trauma, focusing on education, physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. The centre offers a safe haven where these girls can heal, raise their children without fear of censure, and pursue their educational aspirations. Through various programs, Fikia Dada ensures that the girls receive counseling, medical treatment, and life skills training, empowering them to become self-reliant and confident individuals.

Regarding the building projects, the centre has made significant progress. The roofing phase has been completed, and the remaining tasks include electrical installation, plastering, tiling, ceiling, water tank installation and plumbing. These steps are crucial to finalizing the facility, which will enhance the centre’s capacity to support and accommodate more girls in need. The management is actively seeking support and donations to expedite the completion of these projects, ensuring a conducive environment for the girls’ rehabilitation and growth.

The Fikia Dada team, remains dedicated to empowering young girls in Kenya. Our collective efforts, along with support from volunteers and donors, have been instrumental in advancing the centre’s mission to restore hope and provide a better future for vulnerable girls.

✅Strengthens Parent-Teacher Communication:
• A dedicated clinic day allows for face-to-face interaction, providing parents the opportunity to engage directly with teachers about their child’s progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
✅Involves Parents in the Learning Process:
• Parents get a deeper understanding of the curriculum, teaching methods, and the skills their children are developing. This can help parents feel more empowered to support their child’s education at home.
✅Builds a Sense of Community

✅Identifies Areas of Support:
• It provides time in discussing any learning challenges students may be facing and allows teachers and parents to work together on strategies to overcome them, including possible tutoring, adjustments, or special resources.
✅Celebrates Student Achievements:

✅Promotes Shared Educational Goals:
