Warriors Supporting Warriors 💜
In September, the Lupus Foundation of Africa brought our warriors together through medication sharing and support.
through this initiative 13 members received medication support from fellow warriors within our community.
Every contribution matters. Every act of kindness can make a difference.

Early diagnosis can make a difference in living with lupus.

Lupus can affect different parts of the body, and its symptoms may sometimes be mistaken for other conditions. Recognizing symptoms early, seeking medical attention, and getting the appropriate tests can help support timely care and better disease management.
Don’t ignore persistent or unexplained symptoms. Listen to your body, ask questions, and seek medical attention early.
Early action can help protect your health and improve your quality of life.

Many people living with lupus have heard about systemic lupus, but far fewer know about neonatal lupus.
Neonatal lupus is a rare condition that can affect a baby when certain antibodies from the mother cross the placenta during pregnancy. Importantly, a mother does not have to have lupus to carry these antibodies.
While most effects are temporary, neonatal lupus can sometimes affect the baby’s heart, making awareness and appropriate medical monitoring during pregnancy important.
If you are an expectant lupus warrior, talk to your healthcare provider about the right monitoring and care for you and your baby.

Did you know that lupus can take different forms? Understanding the different types of lupus can help us recognise that every lupus journey is unique.
From systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) to cutaneous, drug-induced, and neonatal lupus, each type can affect the body differently.
Let’s keep learning, raise awareness, and build a more understanding and supportive community for everyone living with lupus.

When your body changes the plan, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. 💜
With lupus, some days ask you to slow down, rest, adjust your plans, and listen to what your body needs. That’s not giving up.it’s learning to care for yourself in a different way.

The activity may be over, but the recovery may not be.
For someone living with lupus, a day out, a social event, or simply getting through a busy day can take more from the body than others may see.
The photos may show the smiles. The body may still be asking for rest.
Let’s remember that recovery is part of the journey too. 💜
