DEVELOPMENT OF NEW PROGRAM IN TUVULI (for The Shona community)

They are not just weaving they are weaving there stories.

Kenya has communities such as the Makonde, Nubians, Shona, and Pemba who lived here for generations, contributed to the economy, raised families, and in some cases were brought here during the colonial era, yet spent decades struggling to obtain IDs and citizenship. During uhuru era The Shona community were recognize as The 44 tribe in kenya this are shona community from Zimbabwe.

Today we visited some of Shona community women in there community in kenya to launch our program to help them in storytelling and economic Activities. Not by using what they have but what they used to make as indigenous baskets using plants rids before plastic came in.

The Red U*i

Every fabric is made of something. Every thread has a purpose. Every pattern carries a story.

City Shuka celebrates the modern Maasai experience in the city. The Red U*i goes deeper—exploring the individual threads that make the Shuka what it is.

The Red U*i is a storytelling, filmmaking, photography, and cultural documentation initiative dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and sharing the richness of Maasai culture. Through conversations with elders, youth, artisans, warriors, women, and community leaders, we uncover the traditions, knowledge, values, language, craftsmanship, spirituality, music, food, and everyday life woven into the Maasai identity.

Just as a single thread may seem small, thousands of threads woven together create the iconic Shuka. Likewise, every story, every person, and every tradition forms part of the living fabric of Maasai culture.

The Red U*i believes that if we understand the thread, we understand the fabric. And if we preserve every thread, we preserve the culture.
