The City Shuka Beadwork initiative serves as a sustainable economic activity that empowers women and youth by transforming traditional Maasai beadwork skills into income-generating opportunities. Through the production and sale of handmade items such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and other cultural artifacts, participants earn livelihoods while preserving and promoting their rich cultural heritage. The program also enhances entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and market access, enabling artisans to connect with local and international buyers. By creating employment opportunities and increasing household incomes, City Shuka Beadwork contributes to economic empowerment, poverty reduction, and the overall well-being of marginalized communities.

Yesterday and today, I had the privilege of visiting the City Shuka communities together with a few dedicated TUVULI members.

with Joan Wanjiru Githiomi What makes these visits special is not just teaching filmmaking and photography it's seeing young people discover their talents, gain confidence, and realize that their stories matter. Every lesson, every conversation, and every moment spent together is helping shape future storytellers and creatives.

I want to sincerely thank the TUVULI members who took the time to join us. Your support, commitment, and willingness to serve the community did not go unnoticed. You showed that real change happens when people choose to show up.

There were moments during these visits when I wished more people could experience the joy, hope, and inspiration we witnessed. The smiles, the excitement of learning new skills, and the passion from the young people reminded us why this work is important.

To everyone who continues to support the City Shuka Project, thank you. And to those who have not yet joined us, the door is always open. Come and experience the impact for yourself—you might leave inspired by the very people you came to serve.

Together, we are empowering communities, one story, one photo, and one film at a time. 🎬📸❤️

Today, we participated in a powerful Girls First Summit in Nairobi, hosted under the Girls First Institute in partnership with the global movement Girl Rising. Tuvuli Organization was selected to be part of this impactful program, marking an important step in our journey of empowering young women and strengthening community voices.

We are also looking forward to exploring possible collaborations with organizations working in mental health advocacy and storytelling, especially through the ARISE Program by Tuvuli org and other youth centered initiatives.

Grateful for the opportunity to grow, connect, and continue building spaces where young women can thrive.

The 2nd Bi-Annual National Gender Sector Working Group convened today bringing together government institutions, development partners, civil society, academia and private sector stakeholders to review progress and strengthen collaboration in advancing Kenya’s gender equality agenda.
The discussions centered on critical areas including women’s economic empowerment, the fight against Gender-Based Violence and femicide, women’s leadership and participation, women, peace and security, male engagement, and gender-responsive climate action. The launch of the National GBV Reporting WhatsApp Platform marked a significant step towards improving access to timely support and referral services for survivors of violence.
The NGSWG reaffirmed our shared resolve to move beyond policy commitments and accelerate implementation efforts that promote inclusive, equitable and sustainable development for all
