Today Tuvuli org had an activity for documenting mathere area activities
Community-Led Disaster Risk Reduction and Mapping Exercise

Today, disaster risk reduction and response stakeholders, village elders, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and Community Health Promoters (CHPs) from Cluster Six and Ng’ondu, Thayu, and Ghetto villages came together for a community engagement and participatory mapping exercise.

The activity focused on identifying and mapping disaster hotspots, evacuation routes, and safe spaces within the settlements to strengthen community preparedness, improve emergency response, and enhance resilience to disasters.

The exercise was jointly led by Resistance of Resilience, Ghetto Farmers, and Muungano wa Wanavijiji Kiamaiko Resilience Hub, demonstrating the importance of community participation and collaboration in building safer and more resilient settlements.

By involving diverse community members, including persons with disabilities, the initiative promotes inclusive disaster risk reduction and ensures that local knowledge and lived experiences inform disaster preparedness and response planning.

Together, we are building safer, more inclusive, and disaster-resilient communities.

Focus: Plastic-to-Fuel Technologies: Youth for Circular Economies & Clean Communities

What we did:
🔥 Showcased our youth-led recycling innovations
🔥 Live exhibition of recycled waste products
🔥 Witnessed Plastic-to-Gas technology powering community kitchens
🔥 Networked with high level stakeholders, children & youth champions

We came with ideas. We left with inspiration, partners, and proof that YOUTH CAN LEAD CLIMATE ACTION.

Tuvuli org have been documenting the maasai community journey In Nairobi and showing the elders important of working together with the young ones by documenting the indigenous wisdom only there elders who knows this stories and they are getting to fade to the community.

Through city shuka program for
filmmaking and photography storytelling initiative we make it possible for them to do this by there own by training them on filmmaking techniques and photography.

#𝙈𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙒𝙖𝙐𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙬𝙞 is about time, we explore "𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲" through Tuvuli org's lived project of City Shuka.

A growth-obsessed economy has amnesia. It only looks forward, dismissing the past as "primitive." This is a profound error.

Urban Indigenous (Maa) Communities through Tuvuli org CBO reminds us that our ancestral knowledge is a highly sophisticated technology for resilience. Through mini-films like "City Shuka," they show us that the ways of the nomad - mobility, deep ecological awareness, strong social bonds -are not relics. They are vital blueprints for designing regenerative cities.

The future is ancestral. #𝗗𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 is not about starting over; it's about (re)-membering what we have always known.

This campaign is dedicated to recording, preserving, and sharing authentic indigenous, and marginalize stories, traditions, and lived experiences. Through film, photography, and oral storytelling, the campaign creates a platform where voices from Maasai , samburu and turkana communities are documented and celebrated for future generations

City Shuka Stories aims to: Preserve Maasai cultural heritage through storytelling
Document traditional knowledge and lived experiences
Empower communities to share their voices
Build a digital archive of Maasai stories
Connect rural stories with urban and global audiences.
