MWA MWA envisions a country free of oppressive and discriminative laws against LBQ women, a society free of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation

Minority Women in Action (MWA), is a Kenyan community-based-organization advocating and lobbying for the rights of sexual and gender minority women and is part of the Gay and Le***an Coalition of Kenya (GALCK); under the Lenana Cluster. MWA was formed in the year 2006, following a conference organized by Urgent Action Fund and other partners that sought to bring together Le***an, Gay ,Bisexual ,Tr

ansgender and Intersex (LGBTI) individuals from East Africa. During this conference, many of the women realized that despite the attendance of representatives from organizations aimed at fighting for the rights of LGBQs, women’s issues were highly ignored. This called for the formation of an organization that specifically catered for the needs and rights of LBQs in Kenya and thus Minority Women in Action (MWA) was born.
