Today, we join the global community in recognizing the indispensable role forests play in our food security, nutrition, and overall well-being.

At KenGen Foundation, our Schools' Green Initiative Challenge (GIC) embodies this year's theme by actively involving schoolchildren in tree-planting projects across Machakos, Kitui, and Embu counties.

These efforts not only promote environmental conservation but also enhance soil fertility and support biodiversity, laying the foundation for sustainable food systems in our communities.

Together with students, parents, and teachers, we are cultivating a greener and more food-secure future for Kenya.

KenGen Kenya is proud to be at the forefront of environmental conservation and community development! 🌍

Our MD & CEO Eng. Peter Njenga, accompanied by senior managers and KenGen Foundation trustees, visited the Enoosopukia Adopt-A-Forest project in Narok County to witness the progress of this vital initiative.

With 12,855, trees planted across 10 hectares, the project is restoring a critical part of the Mau Forest Complex, supporting renewable energy production, and empowering local communities.

“This initiative is a testament to KenGen’s commitment to sustainability and our role in protecting Kenya’s natural resources,” said Eng. Njenga.

Together, we’re shaping a brighter, greener future. 🌱

The KenGen Foundation was honored to share our experience at the recent event hosted by Inades formation KENYA in Machakos Town, Machakos County.

Under the theme “The Dynamics of School-Based Reforestation Initiatives to Address Climate Change in Kenya,” we presented our Schools’ Green Initiative Challenge.

This impactful project involves schoolchildren in environmental conservation, particularly in arid and semi-arid areas. Our goal is to plant trees across 460 acres in Machakos, Kitui, and Embu counties.

By turning tree-planting into a competition among schools, we inspire innovative techniques and ensure the highest seedling survival rates. With the support of parents, teachers, and guardians, we are fostering a sustainable future for Kenya.

A special thanks to Elishibah Msengeti for representing us!

We're thrilled to share the latest updates from the Enoosopukia Adopt-A-Forest project!

🌳 In collaboration with KenGen PLC and the Narok County Government, we are well on our way in rehabilitating Enoosopukia Forest. So far, 80% of the seedlings are showing resilience.

This project not only aims to restore the forest but also supports local communities and contributes to Kenya's renewable energy sustainability.

Together, we are making strides towards a greener future! 🌱💚
