Although Africa is endowed with resources, Africa has continued to score higher than any other continent on the negativities of poverty, illiteracy, hunger, civil war, abuse of human rights, diseases, unemployment, corruption, coups, ethnicity and other natural and manmade calamities. The net result is that Africa has remained and will continue to remain underdeveloped for a long time to come unle
ss deliberate efforts are made to change these trends. Kenya has not been spared as she has faced several problems that have threatened her future as a united and peaceful nation. Some of these include institutionalized corruption, increasing insecurity and socio-ethnic tensions, weak and conservative fiscal and economic policies that exclude majority, increasing poverty and inequalities and disregard of rule of law. The past post-election violence and continued eruptions of ethnic conflicts remains a pointer that a lot needs to be done to restore the Country’s dignity. Many analysts squarely put it that since independence, successive governments never addressed historical injustices, never build nationhood but rather promoted tribalism, nepotism favoritism, corruption and impunity. In summary, over the years, the leadership of the country in both private and public institutions became ineptitude, irresponsive and unaccountable by and large. In search of an answer, ALF was founded and registered in 2009 to work with like-minded individuals, groups, organizations and partners to develop, nurture and inculcate sound leadership with the virtues of morality, accountability and transparency. Leadership, that can reconcile itself with the past and create hope for the future as the surest way of building a cohesive, just and an equal- opportunity country for all its citizens.
