A-STEP JIJUE BOYS CAMP | DAY ONE & DAY TWO
14th & 15th December
Building the foundation for responsible young men

Day One – Identity & Brotherhood (14th December)

The camp opened by creating a safe and supportive space where boys could speak honestly about who they are. Through guided sessions on self-awareness and emotional understanding, they shared their strengths and struggles, learned healthy ways to express emotions, and slowly built trust and brotherhood. Boys who arrived quiet and unsure began to open up, connect, and find their voice.

Day Two – Respect, Values & Responsibility (15th December)

On the second day, conversations deepened. Boys reflected on respect for women and girls, family relationships, positive masculinity, discipline, self-control, and making choices guided by strong values.
A powerful and memorable session was led by Alfred Anjere, Director of Box Girls International and former coach of world boxing champion Conjestina Achieng, together with the Hills and Valley Band Team. Through honest conversation, storytelling, and music, the boys were challenged to rethink what respect truly means — especially in their relationships with their mothers, sisters, and the women around them. The atmosphere was reflective, emotional, and deeply engaging.
These early days were not about instruction alone, but about reflection and inner growth. They marked the beginning of a shift — boys becoming more aware, more confident, and more intentional about the men they are becoming

Growing up as a boy isn’t easy.
The world places heavy expectations on boys, yet too often, no one clearly shows them how to carry those expectations in a healthy way.

Boys are expected to be strong, disciplined, and responsible — but many are left to figure out respect, emotions, friendships, pressure, and failure on their own.

At A-STEP Jijue Boys Camp, we intentionally create a safe and supportive space where boys can talk, reflect, and grow. We don’t pretend to have all the answers. Instead, we share real stories, honest conversations, and practical lessons boys can relate to.

This is not about lectures or strict rules.
It’s about shaping character.

We talk about: ✔ Self-respect and dignity
✔ Respect for women, girls, and family
✔ Making choices that matter
✔ Understanding emotions instead of being controlled by them
✔ Learning from mistakes and growing stronger

Through mentorship, interaction, and life-skills training, boys are learning to: • Build discipline and self-control
• Choose positive friendships
• Handle emotions and relationships responsibly
• Take care of their health and well-being
• Make wise decisions about money, technology, and their future

This is why Jijue Camp matters.
Together with parents and the community, we are intentionally raising confident, respectful, and purpose-driven young men.

🌍✨ Final Moments of an Unforgettable Journey — Rob Conradi & Michel Jonker in Kenya ✨🌍

As their memorable visit to Kenya came to a close, Rob and Michel spent their final days surrounded by nature’s beauty — exploring Lake Nakuru National Park and Naivasha’s Crater Lake. 🦓🦩

It was a moment to pause, breathe, and reflect on the meaningful experiences shared over the past two weeks — the laughter, the connections, the deep conversations, and the lives touched through their presence. 💬🤝

At Nakuru, they witnessed the majesty of Kenya’s wildlife — zebras grazing peacefully, flamingos painting the lake pink, and herds of buffalo and antelopes moving gracefully across the plains. In Naivasha, the Crater Lake walk became more than just a hike — it was a gentle reminder of the harmony between people and nature, and the beauty of friendship that crosses oceans. 🌿💚

Their journey with A-STEP and the communities in Mumias left footprints not only on the red Kenyan soil but also in many hearts. ❤️

Thank you, Rob and Michel, for the inspiration, kindness, and unwavering support. Your time here strengthened bridges of hope, learning, and shared humanity.

Asante sana, rafiki zetu! 🇰🇪🇳🇱
Till we meet again — your A-STEP family will always remember these moments.

💛 The Power of Giving — When Hearts Unite, Dreams Grow

When hearts come together, miracles happen. 🌍💛

At A-STEP, we recently experienced a moment that reminded us of the beauty of shared humanity — a heartfelt donation of sports uniforms, balls, and clothes from our dear friends Michel Jonker & Marriet, David & Marjolein MA , and Rob Conradi .

Their gesture went far beyond material gifts.
It carried hope. It carried love. It carried belief — that every child deserves the chance to play, to dream, and to belong. ⚽👟👕

As our young players wore their new uniforms and held the footballs close, their faces lit up with pure joy. You could feel confidence being born — the quiet realization that they matter, that someone believes in them.

“True generosity gives more than it takes — it gives hope.” 🌟

Through your kindness, you’ve reminded us that humanity shines its brightest when we lift others. Your giving has planted seeds of courage, joy, and purpose in every young heart you’ve touched.

From the entire A-STEP family, thank you for believing in our mission, for walking this journey of empowerment with us, and for showing that love knows no borders. ❤️

Together, we are not just changing lives — we are building a legacy of hope, one child at a time.

Friendship, Resilience, and the River of Life — A Journey in Eshikufu Village

Sometimes, the most powerful classrooms have no walls.

In Eshikufu Village, Rob Conradi and Michel Jonker experienced something profoundly human — an encounter that blended learning, friendship, and reflection.

They spent time with local men and youth who shared about their struggles and survival through sand mining — a tough yet honest livelihood that shapes their days.

Later, they joined in swimming in the Lusumu River, where laughter and connection flowed freely. The simple act of swimming became a bridge — uniting two worlds through shared joy, respect, and understanding. 🌍💦

“Real friendship is found when hearts meet in truth — beyond borders, beyond language.”

That day, something beautiful was born — a genuine bond of brotherhood and hope. It reminded us that empowerment begins with empathy and that transformation grows through shared humanity.

💙 Through A-STEP, we continue to build these bridges — connecting lives, stories, and dreams across communities.

⚽ A Surprise of Joy — Gifts That Kickstart Dreams

Giving is not about how much you have — but how much heart you give.

In Nakuru, six young boys and their coach Hasan received an unforgettable surprise — brand new soccer boots, uniforms, and clothing, gifted by Michel Jonker 👟⚽ and Rob Conradi donated to soccer balls ⚽⚽

For many of these boys, it was their first pair of proper boots. Their faces lit up with gratitude, joy, and renewed determination. This simple act of kindness reminded everyone that hope can be sparked by even the smallest gesture.

“It’s not the size of the gift, but the size of the heart that gives it.”

That moment did more than put smiles on faces — it reignited dreams. It told every young player that someone, somewhere, believes in them.

💫 At A-STEP, we believe sport is more than a game — it’s a tool for hope, character, and change.

💬 Planting Confidence — The Power of Self-Belief

"Confidence doesn’t just grow — it’s nurtured through care and example"

One of the most powerful lessons ever shared at A-STEP Lusheya Zone came from Rob Conradi and Michel Jonker ’s heartfelt session on self-esteem, confidence, and the courage to believe in yourself.

They spoke with simplicity, honesty, and warmth — and their message reached deep into the hearts of every child.

Through storytelling, laughter, and reflection, they showed our youth that true success begins from within. That the voice that matters most is the one that says, “Yes, I can.”

“When you believe in yourself, the world begins to believe in you too.”

The session was more than a talk — it was a seed of transformation planted in every young heart.

🌟 At A-STEP, we don’t just teach — we inspire the courage to dream, believe, and become.

📚 Lighting the Lamp of Knowledge — A New Chapter Begins

"Not all heroes wear gloves — some bring knowledge, one book at a time"

Every great future begins with access to learning.

In an incredible act of generosity and love, Rob Conradi and Michel Jonker donated books, a bookshelf, reading tables, and a carpet to A-STEP’s library — creating a safe and inspiring space where curiosity can grow and dreams can take root. 📖🌍

Now, children and youth gather in this cozy room to read, explore, and imagine a brighter tomorrow. Each book carries a message of hope. Each page turned is a step closer to transformation.

“When you give a child a book, you give them wings.”

Rob and Michel’s gesture reminds us that education is the most powerful gift we can share — it lights the path for generations.

💙 Join us in turning pages of possibility — one child at a time.

🥊 Strength Beyond the Ring — Boxing & Team Building with Purpose

"When passion meets purpose, transformation happens."

Rob Conradi and Michel Jonker spent a powerful day with A-STEP beneficiaries, conducting a boxing clinic and team-building session that went far beyond sport. The gloves, the punches, and the sweat all became symbols of resilience, focus, and discipline.

Through every moment, they reminded our young athletes that life — much like boxing — demands courage, teamwork, and the will to rise again after every fall.

This wasn’t just about learning how to fight — it was about learning how not to give up. 💪✨
> “The true victory is not in winning every round, but in standing back up when life knocks you down.”

Rob and Michel left behind a spark that continues to inspire. Through their mentorship, our youth now see that greatness is not distant — it lives within them.

🌟 At A-STEP, we don’t just build athletes — we build character, courage, and community.

🌍💙 WELCOME BACK TO KENYA, ROB & MICHEL! 🇳🇱🤝🇰🇪

Today, we proudly and joyfully welcome back our dear friends and partners — Rob Conradi and Michel Jonker — to Kenya and to the A-STEP family!

For many years, Rob and Michel have not only been visitors but teachers, mentors, and bridge builders. Their greatest inspiration has always been the power of learning and interaction through sports and intercultural exchange. 🏐⚽📚

Through their leadership, they have guided students from the Netherlands to Kenya — helping them connect across cultures, learn from communities, and share experiences that have changed lives on both sides. Their visits have inspired hope, strengthened friendships, and shaped the values that continue to define the A-STEP spirit. 🌱✨

This time, they come as representatives of the entire journey — carrying with them the love, memories, and shared purpose of all the students and friends who have walked alongside A-STEP over the years. Their visit reminds us that learning never ends, and friendship knows no borders. 🌍❤️

As we welcome you home, Rob and Michel, we celebrate a journey of growth, trust, and impact that continues to empower youth through sports, education, and intercultural understanding.

Welcome home, teachers and friends — your presence renews our mission and our joy!
With deep gratitude,
Tim & the entire A-STEP Family

🌟 Celebrating a Journey of Love and Impact

TRIBUTE OF HONOR

Presented to: MICHEL & MARRIET
In Celebration of 30 Years of Marriage and Michel’s 60th Birthday

“Some people build homes, others build bridges — but a few rare souls build hope across hearts and continents.”

This tribute is presented with heartfelt appreciation to Michel and Marriet, whose unwavering friendship and partnership with A-STEP have touched countless lives and built lasting bridges between Kenya and the Netherlands.

For over a decade, you have stood as pillars of compassion and purpose — guiding, giving, and growing alongside us in a journey of shared vision and humanity.

🌍 Michel, your leadership through the “Pamoja Kenya” International Sports Exchange and Learning Program with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences has connected over 200 students to Kenya’s heart and spirit — nurturing understanding, cultural exchange, and lifelong impact.

💖 Marriet, your tireless outreach in the Netherlands has restored sight and hope to more than 400 individuals through A-STEP’s community medical camps in partnership with Yatta Medical Insurance and Walmer Eye Hospital. Your efforts inspired the LAMERIS Foundation to donate a specialized eye machine to Walmer Eye Hospital, continuing to transform lives and illuminate futures.

Together, you are more than partners in marriage — you are partners in mission, living proof that love, when shared, multiplies; that service, when given, transforms; and that friendship, when nurtured, endures across generations.

A-STEP and the entire community of beneficiaries celebrate you both for your enduring love, compassion, and lifelong service to humanity.
May your union continue to shine as a beacon of hope, and may your next chapter be filled with joy, purpose, and blessings.

With Deepest Gratitude and Congratulations

⚽ The Paul Ketelaar Tournament – Play, Learn & Connect

“Every game played with purpose becomes a lesson in life, unity, and hope.” 🌍

Energy, excitement, and emotion filled the air as A-STEP beneficiaries came together for the Paul Ketelaar Tournament — a joyful celebration of friendship, learning, and shared dreams.

Through 5-aside matches, young players from different A-STEP centers competed not just for victory, but for connection, confidence, and growth. The field became a classroom — every pass, goal, and cheer echoing lessons of teamwork, discipline, and joy. ⚽💪

To recognize effort and teamwork, winners in all categories were each motivated with 1 kg of sugar — a simple yet powerful act of appreciation symbolizing how every contribution, no matter how small, sweetens the spirit of community. 🍬💙

This tournament also marked a farewell moment for Co-Founder Paul Ketelaar, who encouraged participants to stay united, focused, and faithful to their dreams. His message reminded everyone that true success lies not only in talent but in discipline, humility, and heart. ❤️

A-STEP honored Paul for his long-standing support, mentorship, and belief in the potential of every child. The day ended in celebration — not of goodbyes, but of a legacy that continues to inspire hope and purpose. 🌟

💬 “Sports teach us that strength is not in winning, but in lifting others as we rise.”
