We at Help a Bro'Da CBO were truly honored to be part of the two-day summit that officially launched the Phoenix Circle Initiative 2026 — a 3-Month Inaugural Bootcamp taking place at Shimo La Tewa Boys Education Centre.

What a meaningful way to mark International Women's Day! This initiative is so close to our hearts because it speaks directly to healing, empowerment and rising into leadership beyond trauma. Seeing so many incredible organizations come together to invest in women's mental health and purpose was nothing short of inspiring.

We are proud to stand alongside such passionate champions of change — people who show up deliberately, consistently and with a vision for generational transformation. This is what community looks like.

On 29th Oct 2025, we hosted 60 girls at our safe space in Shanzu for an empowering talk on adolescent health, contraceptives, and life skills 💪🏽💜

The girls learned about contraceptives,self-care, hygiene, talent nurturing, and reproductive health — and even received health services from dedicated medics.

We’re raising informed, confident, and self-reliant young women! 🌸✨

On 4th November 2025, we held a powerful discussion session titled“Becoming the Man You Needed When You Were a Boy” with 150boys at Shimo la Tewa Boys Institution 💬💙

The talk focused on healing, growth, and redefining masculinity— helping the boys reflect on what their younger selves needed and how they can grow into emotionally aware, responsible men.

We also , emphasized that healing isn’t about forgetting the past but learning to love the parts of us that survived. 🕊️

Grateful for every young man who showed up, shared, and listened. Together, we’re building a generation that values mental health, empathy, and brotherhood. 💪🏽

On the 4th November,I had the privilege to facilitate a Mental Health Hygiene session organized by Sisters for Justice at Kisauni, Magogoni Ward🌿

I met 45 amazing girls and together we explored what it means to take care of our minds — from building positive routines, expressing our emotions, to creating safe spaces for healing and growth. 💚

Mental health is not just about illness, it’s about daily care, self-awareness, and love.

Yesterday,we were with 107 boys at Shimo la Tewa Borstal — boys carrying stories that most adults would struggle to survive. Yet, in their eyes, I saw strength trying to rise again.

We spoke about healing the boy inside— about the two rooms in every man’s head: one filled with pain, anger, and regret, and another with peace, purpose, and hope. Many admitted they are still living in Room 1, and that honesty alone was a brave step toward healing.

When we reached the conversation on drugs, I posed a question: Does taking drugs really make the stress disappear?
There was silence for a moment — then, one by one, they began to speak.
They argued among themselves and finally agreed: “Drugs don’t reduce stress. They only make you forget for a moment — then the pain comes back stronger.”

Hearing that truth from them — not from me — was powerful. It was healing in motion.
One shared that he started using at six years old, searching for love where there was none. Another said he once spent Ksh 10,000 a day on drugs and still felt empty.
But inside those walls, they’re slowly learning something that no substance could ever give — peace, routine, and a second chance.
Healing isn’t a one-day event. It’s forgiving the boy you were, accepting who you are, and teaching the man you’re becoming to walk differently.
Society may still judge them, but transformation has already begun — one honest conversation at a time.

Last Thursday, 16th October, I had an engaging youth discussion session where we focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and the impact of sexual violence on children.

It was inspiring to hear the young people share their views — many highlighted unemployment as a key challenge facing the youth today. They emphasized that if given opportunities to start their own businesses, it would not only empower them economically but also reduce vulnerability to violence and exploitation.

At Help a Bro’Da CBO, we believe in creating safe spaces for young people to speak out, learn, and find solutions that promote equality, empowerment, and justice. 💪🏽✨

Last week, during our session at Shimo la Tewa Bostal, the boys expressed their understanding of drug and substance abuse through art. 🎨

Their drawings spoke volumes — from ci******es and alcohol to w**d and miraa — each sketch reflected how these substances affect the heart, liver, lungs, and brain.

It was a powerful reminder that awareness can take many forms, and sometimes, a picture truly tells a thousand words. 💭
