Today, we stand in mourning and solidarity with the families affected by the tragic fire at Utumishi Girls Academy.

As Jumuiya ya Vijana wa Pwani (JVP), we extend our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and keep the survivors, students, teachers, and the entire school community in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

We call for immediate mental health and psychosocial support for all those affected, especially the students who continue to bear the emotional impact of this tragedy.

We further urge the Government and relevant authorities to expedite investigations, establish the cause of the fire, and implement comprehensive safety measures in learning institutions across the country to ensure such a tragedy never happens again.

May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace, and may their families find strength and comfort in this moment of grief.

Under the leadership of youthful Magogoni Ward MCA aspirant Warren Muyeshi, with the support of Kisauni National Assembly MP Hon. Rashid Juma Bedzimba and Mombasa County Youth Governor Athman Ali, over 260 youths have successfully secured an opportunity to enroll at Unik Driving School for professional driving lessons.

This noble initiative is aimed at empowering young people with practical skills that can open doors to employment and self-reliance in the transport and logistics sector. The program reflects a strong commitment towards youth empowerment, economic inclusion, and creating opportunities for the next generation.

The leaders emphasized that empowering the youth with skills is one of the most effective ways of fighting unemployment and social challenges facing the community today.

JVP continues to champion initiatives that uplift, empower, and inspire the youth towards a better and more productive future.

Mariam Komora, Youth MCA Kinakomba Ward, Tana River County, proudly represented Kenya at the Tanzania International Model United Nations (TIMUN) 2026 Conference held in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

As a delegate representing the Republic of China in the General Assembly Committee, she joined young leaders, diplomats, innovators, and changemakers from different countries in high-level discussions on youth empowerment, governance, climate change, peacebuilding, innovation, and sustainable development.

During the conference, Mariam actively participated in diplomatic debates, negotiations, and resolution drafting, sharpening her leadership, public speaking, and diplomacy skills while building international networks with fellow youth leaders.

One of the key highlights was receiving a special invitation to attend a parliamentary session at the Zanzibar House of Representatives, where delegates engaged with top leaders and gained firsthand experience on governance, democracy, and policymaking.

Her participation reflects the growing role of young leaders from Tana River in global leadership spaces and demonstrates the power of youth voices in shaping the future through diplomacy, education, and international cooperation.

At Mwatate Sub-County, the Taita Taveta JVP leadership, led by Youth Governor Edward Mwamburi and Deputy Youth Governor Dinaice Kileta, alongside Melissa Faith (MP Voi), Khalifan Abubakar (MP Mwatate), Alfred Mwero (MCA Kasighau), and Amina Ramadan (MP Garsen), successfully conducted a Mental Health Awareness Campaign aimed at promoting mental wellness among young people and the wider community.

The event brought together leaders, youth, and residents in meaningful discussions focused on raising awareness about mental health, encouraging open conversations, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health challenges in society.

Through such initiatives, JVP continues to champion a healthier, informed, and empowered generation across the Coast region and beyond.
