Meet the team

Footprints rely on volunteers both in the UK and Kenya. Jo is a key member of the team, here’s a bit about who she is and what she does

“I met Kerry while I was visiting the Shimba Hills in 2008 when she first came back to source the land.
I got involved with Footprints in 2012 and have visited several times, sometimes in the past for 6 weeks at a time, so I have spent a lot of time there.
I help with some fundraising events when I can. In the past I’ve helped with the annual Ball, I’ve done wreath making workshops and I recently helped with a family funday. I also do a weekly virtual art session with grades 3 to 7 teaching skills to help with their curriculum. I’ve had teaching sessions with the teachers helping them to be more creative. I have helped support the over 18’s in the past. I have been a trustee for just over a year and am about to visit again for a couple of weeks in September with one of my oldest friends who is a midwife and a long term supporter of footprints, it will be her first visit.
I loved the idea Kerry had and wanted to be involved in some way. I’ve had lots of roles over the years but have always had the opportunity to share my love of art. I have been part of the Kenya team while Kerry has been back in the Uk and try and support her as much as I can.
The children have made such a difference to my life I think I have definitely got more out of being involved than I’ve given but I love the quote about ‘making a difference in the life of a child’ I hope I have and I continue to do that. There is no greater feeling than to watch a child smile because they are safe and cared for. It’s what Footprints is all about”

Thank you for all you do Jo 🥰🙏

EXCITING UPDATE- WE HAVE A FAB LOCATION IN ROLLESTON - with plenty of footfall and parking (more on that to follow)
WE NOW NEED A LARGE SECURE SHED/LOG CABIN

We have limited funds so if you know anyone replacing theirs, anyone who makes them or anyone happy to donate one please let us know

Thank you ######x

🏠 WE NEED A HOME! 🏠

Well… not for us exactly! 😄

Footprints needs a home for storage in the Burton area. ❤️🇰🇪

We’re looking for a little bit of space where we can safely keep the donations and items we collect for Footprints Family in Kenya before they begin their journey to the children. We also bring items back from Kenya to raise funds in the UK. The space needs to be dry and secure with easy access.

📦 Do you have some spare, secure space?
🏢 Perhaps you own a business with an unused corner of a warehouse or unit?
🚜 A farm building, garage or secure outbuilding?
🤝 Or maybe you know someone who could help?
📦 Or somewhere we can put a storage container?

Ideally we’re looking for somewhere in or around Burton upon Trent that could become our little Footprints storage home.

Perfection would be somewhere that others could come and visit us too eg a farm/shopping complex

If you can help — or know someone who might be able to — please get in touch.

And if you can’t help with space, you can still help us enormously by SHARING THIS POST. You never know whose newsfeed it might land on. ❤️

🇰🇪 A little bit of space in Burton could make a BIG difference in Kenya. 🇰🇪

Please share far and wide! 🙏

🇰🇪 Swahili Saturday 🇰🇪

Today’s phrase: Asante Sana ❤️

Meaning: Thank you very much.

It’s one of the first Swahili phrases you’ll hear in Kenya and one you’ll use time and time again. Whether you’re thanking your safari guide, a market trader, your lodge staff, or the amazing children at Footprints, these two simple words are always met with a warm smile.
