It was a great pleasure to spend the better part of the day supporting and interacting with the brave men and women who sacrifice so much, even to the point of risking their own lives, to keep us safe and comfortable on land.

We honour their courage, commitment and service. May God protect them, strengthen them and grant them safe journeys wherever duty takes them. ⚓🙏

It was a great honour to be invited aboard HMS Dragon, the British Royal Navy ship that recently docked at the Port of Mombasa.

It was a privilege to interact with the Captain and Commander of the ship, as well as the Deputy British High Commissioner. It was also a beautiful evening of reconnecting with friends and colleagues from the maritime community.

I was especially grateful for the opportunity to share about the work of the Mission to Seafarers, Mombasa, and our commitment to supporting the welfare, wellbeing and spiritual needs of seafarers visiting the Port of Mombasa.

We are grateful for the continued partnership and friendship within the maritime community as we work together to make a difference in the lives of seafarers. ⚓️🌊

Yesterday, the Mission to Seafarers Mombasa was honoured to host Sea Sunday 2026, bringing together the maritime community to give thanks, remember, and pray for seafarers whose dedication keeps global trade moving and connects nations across the world.

The occasion was made even more special as we celebrated 105 years of caring for seafarers in the Port of Mombasa. For over a century, we have remained committed to offering hope, compassion, practical support, and spiritual care to seafarers of every nation who visit our shores.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, stakeholders, church leaders, government agencies, shipping companies, volunteers, and friends who joined us in marking this historic milestone. Your continued support strengthens our mission and inspires us to keep serving those who spend their lives at sea.

Together, we remain committed to being a Harbour of Hope for every seafarer.

Last week, we were privileged to host senior directors from the Seafarers' Charity UK, our valued partners and friends in caring for seafarers. It was a pleasure meeting with them and discussing ways in which we can further strengthen and improve our services to seafarers. We deeply appreciate their continued support and shared commitment to the welfare of those who work at sea.

Following a phone call from one of the shipping agents in Lamu highlighting the challenges faced by Seafarers visiting the port, the Chaplain decided to pay a visit to the port. He was warmly received by Mr. Nicholas from CMA CGM together with other port staff.

The The Mission to Seafarers Mombasa will soon be exploring ways of supporting Seafarers visiting the port by providing the necessary welfare services. During the discussions, we were informed that Seafarers are sometimes charged up to 200 USD just to visit nearby towns. In addition, there is currently no recreation facility where they can relax, contact their families, or enjoy meals and refreshments.

This visit marked an important step towards improving the welfare and wellbeing of Seafarers calling at the Port of Lamu.

Today, the Captain of Star Bright kindly invited us on board for Holy Mass. We celebrated together and had a meaningful discussion with the seafarers about the challenges they face in their daily lives at sea. They expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to receive Holy Communion on board, which brought them great spiritual encouragement and comfort. It was truly a blessed and humbling moment of fellowship, prayer, and pastoral care among our brothers and sisters serving at sea.

It was a great honour and privilege to host a delegation of about 22 military officers from different parts of the world, led by Major General Felix from the Royal College of Defence Studies in London.

Sincere thanks to Commander Shaun of the British High Commission for his special love and support for the Mission, and for bringing the delegation to visit us.
