We are pleased to share this feature highlighting the growing role of young people in promoting peace, social cohesion and meaningful participation in Mombasa County through TUPO PAMOJA II.

Through interfaith dialogue, mentorship and leadership development, young people from across the county are being encouraged to build bridges across faith and community lines and take an active role in shaping peaceful and inclusive communities.

We appreciate all our religious leaders, youth, partners and stakeholders who continue to make this journey possible. Special appreciation to Danmission East Africa (Danmission) for supporting TUPO PAMOJA II.

Interfaith Peacebuilding Meeting

On 25th September 2026, CICC Trust Religious and Interfaith Leaders in Mombasa, met at Harmony Institute for a dialogue on Strengthening Interfaith Collaboration.

The meeting highlighted the importance of leadership renewal, generational engagement, youth participation, and stronger partnerships between religious institutions and civil society in advancing peace and social cohesion along the Coast.

The Journey Has Begun!

On 24th September 2026, TUPO PAMOJA II held its first mentorship session, bringing together religious leader mentors and young mentees for a day of connection, learning, reflection and leadership development. The session marked the beginning of a journey towards meaningful youth participation in peacebuilding, governance and community leadership.

Strengthening Freedom of Religion or Belief in Mombasa County

The two-day FoRB Indicator Tool training for religious leaders in Mombasa County, held on 22nd–23rd September 2026, has successfully concluded under the IMANI ZETU Project.

The training equipped participants with practical skills to monitor and document Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) issues within their communities. It also provided an opportunity for religious leaders to strengthen their understanding of their role in promoting religious freedom, peaceful coexistence, and interfaith collaboration.

We are grateful to all the religious leaders who participated and contributed to meaningful discussions throughout the two days.

Together, we continue to build communities where everyone’s right to freedom of religion or belief is respected and protected.

Strengthening FoRB Monitoring in Mombasa County

Day 1 of the Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) Indicator Tool training was successfully completed on 22nd September 2026 in Mombasa County under the IMANI ZETU Project.

Religious leaders were equipped with practical knowledge and skills to better understand, monitor, and document issues related to Freedom of Religion or Belief within their communities.

As we move into Day 2, we continue building the capacity of religious leaders to contribute to peaceful coexistence, interfaith collaboration, and respect for everyone’s right to freedom of religion or belief.

Building Stronger Communities through FoRB

On 16th–17th September 2026, CICC Trust brought together 20 religious leaders in Tana River County for a capacity-building training under the IMANI ZETU Project.

The participants gained practical knowledge on the FoRB Indicator Tool, enabling them to identify, monitor, and document Freedom of Religion or Belief issues within their communities. They also explored the Religious Organizations Bill (2024) and the role of religious organisations in promoting religious freedom and peaceful communities.

Through these efforts, we continue to strengthen interfaith cooperation, peaceful coexistence, and respect for everyone’s right to freedom of religion or belief.

Promoting Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB)

On 16th–17th September 2026, CICC Trust trained 20 religious leaders in Kwale County under the IMANI ZETU Project.

The training strengthened their skills in using the FoRB Indicator Tool to monitor and document FoRB issues, while also deepening their understanding of the Religious Organizations Bill (2024).

Together, we continue to promote peaceful coexistence, interfaith collaboration, and respect for everyone’s right to freedom of religion or belief. 🕊️

Building stronger communities through faith, dialogue, and action.

On 14–15 September 2026, the Coast Interfaith Council of Clerics Trust (CICC Trust) trained 20 religious leaders in Kilifi County under the IMANI ZETU Project supported by CKU through Danmission East Africa.

The training equipped participants with the FoRB Indicator Tool to monitor and document Freedom of Religion or Belief issues in their communities, while the Religious Organisations Bill (2024) strengthened their understanding of the role of religious organisations in advancing FoRB.

These leaders will serve as community researchers, helping amplify local voices and promote peaceful coexistence, interfaith collaboration, and respect for everyone’s right to freedom of religion or belief.

Together, we turn knowledge into action and faith into a force for peaceful communities.
