AJIRA DIGITAL SKILLS TRAINING 💻✨ HELD FROM
1ST–3RD September 2026 | Kengeleni ACK, Mombasa

001 Digital Network of Mentors Organization participated in the Ajira Digital Skills Training, organized in partnership with Ajira Digital, Mastercard Foundation, and Mombasa Community Trust Development (MCDT).
Over the three days, youths gained practical knowledge and skills in:
📌 Day One – Digital Marketing & Entrepreneurship
Introduction to entrepreneurship
1. Digital marketing fundamentals
2. Digital marketing channels and categories
3. Using Canva for content creation
4. Creating a page

📌 Day Two – Financial Literacy & Digital Business

1. Financial literacy
2. Preparing budgets
3. Creating savings plans
4. Keeping business records
5. Business websites: what you need and tools for building one
6. Google Business Listing, its benefits, and how to create one.

📌 Day Three – Online Work & E-Commerce

1. Understanding online work
2. Identifying and developing your skills
3. Learning and practicing online work
4. Creating online work accounts
4. Categories of online work platforms, including freelancing, microtasks, remote jobs, content creation, e-commerce, online tutoring, affiliate marketing, and specialised platforms
5. Introduction to e-commerce
Business research and creating a brand
6. Choosing and developing a business identity.

The training also provided a certificate upon completion of the three-day Digital Skills Training, with opportunities to continue learning through online courses for further growth and skills development.

Civil Society Organizations play a vital role in community development.
CLNSA is the pillar that deals with matters focusing on land, housing, urban planning, and environmental rights in the Coast region, bringing together stakeholders to discuss key issues.
To collectively synergize efforts to address human rights injustices on matters of land, environment, natural resources, and housing among the marginalized and vulnerable communities in the Coast region
Key issues identified:
Land- historical injustice
Environment & Natural Resources- Environmental degradation
Housing-Linked to land and marginalization
WAY FORWARD
1. Finalize and adopt the developed CLNSA objective.
2. Develop a detailed 6-month work plan with clear responsibilities for each member.
3. Address challenges of resource pooling, communication, and data-driven work.
4. Follow up on stalled issues: Kisauni, Nyali land, Mwache project, and Rapid Response team.
5. Strengthen the reporting mechanism as proposed.
6. Encourage punctuality for future meetings to utilize scheduled time effectively.

Inuka programme, civil ecosystem, and 2027 general election preparedness sensitization forum.
The forum brought together civic actors, community organizers, and stakeholders to review Inuka’s origin, programmatic work, operational challenges, and emerging risks linked to rising political tensions ahead of the 2027 elections. The discussions also explored the role of the informal sector, community assets, and civic preparedness within Kenya’s socio-economic and political landscape.

Purpose of the senzition
• To review Inuka’s programs and strategic direction
• To assess civic and political risks ahead of the 2027 elections
• To examine the role of informal economies and community systems
• To identify operational challenges affecting civic actors
• To explore strategies for sustainability, resilience, and collaboration

Action Points

• Develop a concept document outlining civic ecosystem strategies
• Map community actors, infrastructure, and networks
• Strengthen civic education initiatives ahead of 2027
• Explore partnerships with local businesses for sustainability

During the the event the following issues were addressed.

🌍 Faith and Unity in Kenya – KCPF Forum at English Point Marina
Today’s Kenya Christian Professionals Forum (KCPF) gathering at English Point Marina, Mombasa, brought together faith leaders, youth mentors, and community advocates to reflect on Kenya’s spiritual landscape and shared values of peace, integrity, and service.

The session highlighted the diversity of faith across counties, as shown in Bishop Dennis Nthumbi’s demographic presentation, emphasizing collaboration between Christian and Muslim communities for national cohesion and moral leadership.

International Youth Day 2026.

International Youth Day was celebrated on 12Th August 2026 in Mombasa County. It took place at the Tononoka Hall.

Youths from all spheres were brought together under the theme " Different Contexts, Common Aspiration"

The day enhanced intergenerational knowledge transfer, with government officials sharing their knowledge and expertise; young people showcased their innovations and took up different spaces.

Gender mainstreaming is one of the important aspects that should be embraced by every sector in the economy. The waste management sector in Changamwe was empowered on gender mainstreaming in the circular economy.

Most gender issues among waste management actors concern services, decision-making, responsibility sharing, income management, and asset ownership.

As change makers in the waste sector, different levels of power should be applied to ensure that we have the ripple effect that is positive to bring the change we want to see.

The power within is the power that is within an individual to contribute to the change.

Power to is the to take action based on ability to act based on the skills and knowledge with the available resources.

Power With is the collective responsibility to take action and embrace diversity to bring positive change.

Power over is the systemic power, the power that is equivalent to the shadow of a tree.

Green Maritime Corridor.

Key players in the maritime sector International, National & County Governments and community-based organizations, including the 001 Digital Network of Mentors Organization, met at the Sarova White Sands Hotel to discuss climate change and Green Energy under the Kenya Green Corridors.
The conference enabled the stakeholders in co-designing a roadmap for the Zero-Carbon Emission Maritime in Kenya.

The conversation with the stakeholders enabled them to explore solutions for sustainable shipping, green port development, and maritime decarbonization in line with Kenya’s climate goals.

A valuable platform for collaboration, innovation, and advancing a cleaner, more sustainable blue economy for Kenya.
