International Youth Day 2026.

International Youth Day was celebrated on 12Th August 2026 in Mombasa County. It took place at the Tononoka Hall.

Youths from all spheres were brought together under the theme " Different Contexts, Common Aspiration"

The day enhanced intergenerational knowledge transfer, with government officials sharing their knowledge and expertise; young people showcased their innovations and took up different spaces.

Gender mainstreaming is one of the important aspects that should be embraced by every sector in the economy. The waste management sector in Changamwe was empowered on gender mainstreaming in the circular economy.

Most gender issues among waste management actors concern services, decision-making, responsibility sharing, income management, and asset ownership.

As change makers in the waste sector, different levels of power should be applied to ensure that we have the ripple effect that is positive to bring the change we want to see.

The power within is the power that is within an individual to contribute to the change.

Power to is the to take action based on ability to act based on the skills and knowledge with the available resources.

Power With is the collective responsibility to take action and embrace diversity to bring positive change.

Power over is the systemic power, the power that is equivalent to the shadow of a tree.

Green Maritime Corridor.

Key players in the maritime sector International, National & County Governments and community-based organizations, including the 001 Digital Network of Mentors Organization, met at the Sarova White Sands Hotel to discuss climate change and Green Energy under the Kenya Green Corridors.
The conference enabled the stakeholders in co-designing a roadmap for the Zero-Carbon Emission Maritime in Kenya.

The conversation with the stakeholders enabled them to explore solutions for sustainable shipping, green port development, and maritime decarbonization in line with Kenya’s climate goals.

A valuable platform for collaboration, innovation, and advancing a cleaner, more sustainable blue economy for Kenya.

Kenya Institute for Public policy Research and Analysis Annual Regional Conference in Mombasa focused on Strengthening Kenya's Value Chain to promote Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth.

001 Digital Network of Mentors organization team was privilege to attend a Two sensitization sessions led by the Public Benefit Organizations Regulatory Authority (PBORA). The sessions aligned with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendation 8 and the 2025 Procedural Safeguards, which focus on safeguarding Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) from terrorist financing risks.

Objective of the sensitization was: -

Enhance understanding of terrorist financing risks affecting NPOs
• Educating organizations on regulatory compliance requirements
• Share best practices for risk mitigation and accountability
• Strengthen the capacity of NPOs to operate transparently and responsibly
Outcome of the sensitization
• Improved awareness of financial risks and compliance obligations
• Strengthened internal controls and governance within NPOs
• Enhanced ability to identify and mitigate terrorist financing risks
• Increased collaboration between PBORA and local organizations

Waste Management actors plays a key role in our environment and also contributing to the creation of green jobs enhancing livelihood of people.

Changamwe Mazingira Community based organization is a consortium of 15 groups that are in waste managment and Climate Change.
In Collaboration and Partnership with World Wide Fund for Nature and the Consortium come together to strengthen our relationship.

Extended producer responsibility is also a concern that Consortium should embrace to be able to do their work.
