Day Two of the Convening in Nairobi was a powerful reminder that civil society continues to play a critical role in shaping Kenya’s democratic future beyond the ballot.
Courtesy of our partners ForumCiv Eastern & Southern Africa and Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi, our team at Manyatta Africa was honored to engage alongside fellow change-makers, creatives, governance actors, and development partners in thought-provoking conversations around civic space, accountability, inclusion, and citizen participation. From the keynote reflections on strengthening democracy after the 2022 elections to the vibrant panel discussions on marginalized voices reclaiming space in governance, the convening created a meaningful platform for reflection, learning, and solidarity.
The conversations reaffirmed one important truth: sustainable democracy must intentionally include young people, women, marginalized communities, and grassroots voices at the center of decision-making. Democracy is not sustained by elections alone, it lives through active citizenship, protected civic spaces, courageous conversations, and collective responsibility.
As an organization, we remain committed to promoting meaningful youth participation, participatory governance, inclusion, peacebuilding, and community-driven transformation while advancing the spirit and values of Human Fraternity.
