๐ŸŒŠ Day 3 โ€“ Culmination of the Madagascar National Technology Demonstration & Training ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

After two days of intensive training and interactive discussions, today marks the culmination of the training โ€” the live technology demonstration at the Port of Tamatave. ๐Ÿšขโœจ
This is where theory meets practice. Participants from Madagascar will see firsthand how innovative tools like ROVs for inspection, monitoring, and cleaning can be applied in real-world settings to tackle biofouling.

๐Ÿ’ก For the participants, this is more than just a demonstration โ€” itโ€™s the chance to put knowledge into action, to connect global best practices with local realities, and to witness solutions that can directly benefit Madagascarโ€™s shipping sector, environment, and economy.

At MTCC Africa, we are proud to have facilitated this forum under the IMO-NORAD TEST Biofouling project. Our excitement today goes beyond the technology โ€” it lies in knowing that this workshop builds capacity, strengthens climate change mitigation efforts, and opens doors for sustainable shipping not only in Madagascar, but across the wider African region.

๐ŸŒ This is a step forward in equipping countries with the tools, skills, and partnerships needed to reduce emissions, protect marine ecosystems, and secure a resilient Blue Economy for generations to come.
We look forward to many more opportunities to empower the region with solutions for climate action and maritime sustainability. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒŠ

This morning in Toamasina, participants continued their learning journey under the IMO-Norad TEST Biofouling Project, with highly interactive training sessions led by IMO Consultant Mr. Babacar Diop.

๐Ÿ“Œ Key discussions focused on:
โœ… Promoting gender equality and development in the maritime sector
โœ… Planning and conducting in-water inspections
โœ… Strengthening reporting and evaluation practices

We appreciate the strong collaboration of the APMF Madagascar, whose partnership has been instrumental in delivering this national workshop alongside the Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre Africa - MTCC Africa and the International Maritime Organization - IMO. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿšข๐ŸŒŠ These interactive sessions are preparing the ground for tomorrowโ€™s live in-water demonstration at the Port of Tamatave, where innovative solutions will be showcased.

๐ŸŒ Together, we are advancing Africaโ€™s leadership on maritime decarbonization, climate action, environmental protection, and sustainable shipping.
