Sheikh Abuqatada held a meaningful meeting with some of our members to address the growing challenge of drug and substance abuse within Mombasa County communities. The discussion focused on the devastating effects of drugs on individuals, families, and society—especially how drug abuse robs our youth of their health, education, purpose, and future. Drugs fuel crime, school dropouts, unemployment, mental health issues, and broken families, weakening the social and economic fabric of our communities.
The meeting also highlighted the positive impact of community-led efforts in the fight against drugs. Through awareness, mentorship, faith-based guidance, rehabilitation support, and collaboration with local leaders, communities can protect young people from falling into addiction. Such initiatives help restore hope, promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen family values, and empower youth to become productive, responsible citizens. When communities unite to fight drugs, we not only save lives but also build a safer, stronger, and more resilient Mombasa for future generations.

As we say thank you to for the opportunity as we were proud to attend, learn, and support solutions that turn waste into opportunity and sustainability into livelihoods. 💚

Innovation in action ♻️🚤🌱

From plastic bottles turned into boats, to pineapple peels transformed into organic manure — this was all about managing waste creatively and generating income from it.

Also was Kijiweni youth group from Jomvu Sub-County, Usafi Pioneers, showcased how waste managers can diversify, innovate, and avoid depending on one product.

Today, Hope for Community joined hands with ,the Office of Hon. Mama Leila, the Office of Chief Omar, , .therapyspace, and other partners to mark the 16 Days of Activism at Kwahola Primary School. Together, we empowered 80 young girls through conversations on GBV, SRHR, and Mental Health—ensuring every girl feels heard, protected, and supported.

We remain committed to creating safer spaces, amplifying youth voices, and championing the wellbeing of our community.
