From Growth to Impact: Our ODSS Journey at North Coast Innovators (NCI)

At North Coast Innovators, we’ve always been passionate about driving change in coastal communities—especially in SRHR, climate action, youth empowerment, and innovation.

But like many growing organizations, we faced a challenge:
👉 Strong ideas and community presence, but limited internal systems to scale our impact.

That’s where the ODSS (Organizational Development & Systems Strengthening) program by Amref Health Africa in Kenya came in—and it changed everything.

Through ODSS, we were able to:
âś… Strengthen our governance and leadership structures
âś… Improve our planning and accountability systems
âś… Develop a clear Capacity Improvement Plan (CIP) to guide our growth
âś… Become more structured, strategic, and partnership-ready

One of our biggest wins has been rethinking how we design programs. Today, we are building integrated solutions that connect:
🌱 Climate resilience
đź’ś SRHR (Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights)
👩🏾 Women’s economic empowerment
👥 Youth leadership

This means more holistic, real impact for the communities we serve.

🚀 We’re now stepping into a new phase—engaging partners, exploring climate finance opportunities, and scaling solutions across the coast.

What excites us most?
We’re no longer just a passionate youth initiative—we’re becoming a structured, credible organization ready to drive lasting change.

🙏 Thank you to Amref Health Africa in Kenya and the Youth Power Hub for walking this journey with us.

Strengthening Climate Finance in the Blue Economy – Week 4: Digital Skills for Climate Action. On 31st January, our Project Lead Zack Oluoch represented us at the official launch of the Mombasa Youth CouncilMombasa Youth Council, serving on the committee under the Ministry of Environment, Sustainability & Blue Economy.

During Week 4, we hosted a standup briefing with students from the Technical University of Mombasa , introducing them to digital tools and Web3 innovations that support climate finance and community-driven projects.

Through initiatives like this, youth are empowered with both leadership and technical skills, ensuring their voices and ideas actively shape the blue economy.

đź’ˇ Together, we are building a climate-smart, digitally empowered generation of change-makers.
