The Likoni Community Football League is based in Likoni, Mombasa, Kenya. The organization provides a competition base that exposes young people to the sport of soccer, facilitating opportunities to create leaders within the community. Programs run all year long and include two seasons of play, various tournaments, coaching clinics, referee clinics, a birth certificate program and more.

This past Saturday, we successfully resumed our community screening program in partnership with engaging the Maji Safi Community at Maji Safi Primary School, Shelly Beach, in collaboration with Likoni Pirates FC.

The featured film, Watatu, provided a powerful platform to address the critical issue of youth radicalization. Through this screening, we facilitated meaningful dialogue with pre-teens and teenagers in attendance, fostering awareness, reflection, and community-driven conversations around the social challenges affecting young people today.

This initiative underscores our commitment to leveraging sport as a tool for social development while creating safe spaces for education, engagement, and positive behavioral change beyond the field of play.

We remain grateful to our partners and stakeholders whose continued support enables us to deliver impactful, community-centered programs that drive sustainable change.

After a 40 plus days break to observe the holy month of Ramadhan and Lent, our action resumed this past Wednesday in top gear.

It’s school holiday and we must make the most of it before the kids return back. Coz this is LCLF and LCFL is our business.

As the year begins in ernest, the LCFL continues to reach further into areas of the Likoni community courtesy of our partnership with Three screenings in, with the latest one at Ushindi Baptist Church involving our players parents.. this partnership couldn’t have come at a better time.

This past Saturday, Vimbwanga u-17 team were crowned champions of the second edition of the Ben Levey Founders Cup under 17 championship in a fierce finale match between Vimbwanga FC and Boost Stars Football team. Vimbwanga emerged victorious with a 2-1 win to be crowned champions. This year’s final was graced by F3 Board Member, his wife Kelly and cohort 3 of the F3-LCFL volunteer program volunteers visiting likoni this Dec/Jan. Hearty congratulations to Vimbwanga football team and commiseration to every other team that played in the tournament.

Over the past 10 days or so, the Ben Levey Founders Cup (u17) has been on. A total of 7 matches have been played so with the last pool stages of the competition nearing completion. Tomorrow, Vyemani take on Boost Stars while Zaragoza take on TYSA. The big surprise on Saturday.. wait for it.. 🥰🔥

After a successful training exercise with our partners SAFE Kenya, our first community screening went down today. Over 50+ young boys and girls and their guardians taking part in the first LCFL*SAFE streaming aimed at finding alternative interventions for our community in dealing with political manipulation and the youth gangs menace. WATATU was the feeling of choice today. So so honored this went down!

Watch out for the next screening. Dates and timings to be shared in a few. Asanteni sana Tysa and AS Roma for the opportunity to share this with your communities.

Over the past couple of weeks, and since the resumption of the league after the LCFL x SAFE Kenya training, the league has since resumed with week two of the u13 and u15 games going down these past days. Seprately, two of our community coaches are also working closely with the kids as they prepare for a church cup competition that is due sometime next year in Kisumu. Coach Zena and Coach Nyanje continue to work with the kids every 3 days a week just to get them in good shape ready for the competitions.

Sports truly is amazing! And football is just proper art!
