Every child deserves a strong foundation.

At Path Youth Organisation (PYO), our work in foundational literacy and numeracy is grounded in a simple belief: children need need meaningful opportunities to learn.

Through our L&N Initiative in Mombasa County, we have worked with 2,185 early-grade learners, while exploring practical approaches.

These experiences continue to shape how we think about foundational learning: practical, community-rooted and responsive to where learners are.

We are sharing this carousel as part of our broader commitment to Education & Lifelong Learning and to strengthening our institutional contribution to equitable and inclusive learning. We believe stronger foundations require collaboration across schools, teachers, families, communities, education partners and policymakers.

What does it mean to be a young person in Mombasa, Kwale or Kilifi?

While young people across coastal Kenya share many aspirations, the realities shaping those aspirations can look very different from one county to another.

This International Youth Day 2026, we are bringing these different perspectives together on BLUE RADIO KENYA for a conversation inspired by this year’s theme: “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”

The conversation will bring together youth voices from across the Coast:
🔹 Ahmed Habib – Mombasa
🔹 Mealii Mbodze – Kwale
🔹 David Ziro – Kilifi

Together, we will explore the opportunities and challenges young people experience in our different counties. It is an opportunity to connect different county experiences, amplify youth voices and identify the common aspirations that unite us.

One of the greatest takeaways from the Sheria Ya Vijana Bootcamp organized by Kenya Climate Innovation Center(KCIC) was the opportunity to learn alongside passionate youth leaders, innovators, and social entrepreneurs from across Kenya.

Representing Path Youth Organisation (PYO), Jazillah Amin Ali and Fatma Juma engaged in insightful discussions, practical sessions, and peer learning that challenged us to think differently about organizational sustainability, innovation, and long-term impact.

The experience reinforced an important lesson: strong organizations are built through continuous learning, collaboration, and a willingness to adapt. The team return inspired, equipped with new ideas, and ready to translate these lessons into action for the children, youth, and communities we serve.

Over the past five days, jerzzyyy and Fatma Juma had the privilege of representing Path Youth Organisation (PYO) at the Sheria Ya Vijana 5-Day Bootcamp in Nairobi, organized by Kenya Climate Innovation Center(KCIC)

The bootcamp was an enriching experience that brought together youth-led organizations to strengthen their capacity in entrepreneurship, organizational sustainability, legal compliance, and enterprise development. Beyond the technical sessions, it created valuable opportunities to connect with fellow changemakers, exchange ideas, and build relationships that will continue beyond the training.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC) and the Sheria Ya Vijana Program for creating this opportunity and for investing in the growth of youth-led organizations across Kenya. The learning doesn't end here, it begins with how we apply it.

During the Youth Organizations Strengthening Forum & VirtueLEAD Exhibition by Emerging Leaders Foundation-Africa, we were excited to host "A Minute with Path, A Minute with You" a series of engaging one-minute conversations hosted by Mercy Wambugha

Joining us was Emmanuel Mshanga, a Community Development Practitioner at Imarika Foundation, as we explored conversations around youth leadership, community development, values, and creating lasting impact through youth investment.

These short but powerful conversations reminded us that every voice, every story, and every experience has the potential to inspire change and spark new ideas.

A heartfelt thank you to Emmanuel Mshanga for sharing his insights, to mercy njumwa for skillfully hosting the conversation, and to everyone who visited the Path Youth Organisation (PYO) booth and engaged with us throughout the forum.
