At outh (PYO), one of our core values is continuous learning. We recognize that strong organizations are built through continuous reflection, growth, and investment in people.

Yesterday, our Programs Manager, Fatma Ali, participated in Day 1 of the Leadership and Governance In-Person Training organized by KCDF. The session focused on strengthening organizational governance through discussions on board roles and responsibilities, the board lifecycle, and strategies for building resilient organizations.

We appreciate and for creating this valuable learning platform and look forward to applying these insights to strengthen our governance and organizational effectiveness.

As part of the Empowering School Leaders on Gender-Responsive Education Project funded by under GESL Alliance, Youth Organisation (PYO), in collaboration with Likoni school coordinators from Mombasa County, facilitated a capacity-building session for teachers in Likoni Sub-County on the fundamentals of Gender-Responsive Education.

The session aimed to strengthen teachers' understanding of gender-responsive teaching and learning practices, enabling them to create safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments for all learners.

Through interactive discussions, practical examples, and experience-sharing, teachers explored strategies for integrating gender-responsive approaches into their daily classroom practice. The session also provided an opportunity for educators to reflect on existing school practices and identify actions that can contribute to more inclusive and learner-centered educational environments.

The training reinforced the commitment of teachers and school leaders in Likoni to advancing gender equality in education and ensuring that every learner has an equal opportunity to thrive academically and socially.

Gender-responsive school leadership is not a one-time activity — it exists on a continuum. Schools move from reinforcing harmful gender norms to becoming spaces that actively transform inequality and create equal opportunities for all learners and educators..

🔴 Gender Blind – Ignores how gender norms affect leadership, participation, and learning experiences.
🟠 Gender Aware – Recognizes that gender inequalities and biases exist within schools.
🟡 Gender Sensitive – Considers the different needs and experiences of boys, girls, and educators in decision-making and school practices.
🟢 Gender Responsive – Actively implements strategies and systems that promote equity, inclusion, participation, and safe learning environments.
🔵 Gender Transformative – Challenges harmful norms and power structures to create lasting systemic change in education and leadership.

The goal is to move beyond awareness toward leadership that creates truly equitable schools for all.

We are happy to share the Gender-Responsive Pedagogy Framework, developed in close collaboration with our partners at the under Gender Equitable School Leadership Alliance. At (PYO), our mission is to build a sustainable, empowered, and informed generation. We believe that true youth empowerment begins with equitable and inclusive education.

Creating a gender-responsive learning environment requires a holistic approach that impacts every part of the school leadership journey; including gender-responsive language, school infrastructure, learning materials, equitable classrooms, and community engagement. We are proud of the strides we are making together toward student-centered learning.

participated in a sensitization workshop on the Public Benefits Organizations Act (PBORA), an important step towards strengthening the regulatory and operational environment for civil society organizations in Kenya.

The session provided valuable insights on compliance, governance, and accountability, and how organizations can align their work within the evolving legal framework.

As Path Youth Organisation (PYO), this is key in ensuring our work remains credible, transparent, and impactful in the communities we serve.
