On International Women's Day 2026, 8th March

We celebrate the strength, resilience, and unwavering passion of women shaping the social justice movement across Coastal Kenya. From challenging inequality and defending human rights to building peace and championing community voices, women continue to turn struggles into victories and barriers into pathways for change.

Today we honor their courage, recognize their sacrifices, and celebrate the wins, big and small, that move our communities closer to justice, dignity, and equality.

Here’s to the women in social justice spaces who rise, organize, and lead with purpose every day.

OCA session successfully conducted with Sisters for Justice – Kisauni, one of the vibrant Social Justice Centres implementing the Haki Mtaani project in Kisauni, Nyali

Led by Pwani Social Justice Working Group, the Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) created a reflective and strategic space to evaluate institutional systems, governance structures, program implementation, safeguarding practices, and accountability mechanisms. The session aimed at strengthening internal capacity, enhancing transparency, and building sustainable community-driven advocacy rooted in human rights and social justice.

Through participatory analysis and collective learning, we reaffirmed our commitment to people-powered organizing, responsive leadership, and impactful grassroots justice in Kisauni, Mombasa.

CAPACITY STRENGTHENING FOCUS - FAZA SJC

Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) for FAZA YOUTH ACTION GROUP (FYAG) VOICE OF THE VOICELESS, a vibrant justice centre in Lamu County. This assessment aimed to evaluate institutional structures, governance systems, program effectiveness, and sustainability mechanisms.

The goal of this exercise is to strengthen internal systems, enhance accountability, and build long-term resilience so that Faza Youth Action Group can more effectively champion human rights, social justice, and community empowerment in Lamu.

ORGANIZATION CAPACITY ASSESSMENT - LAMU SJC

The PSJC_WG Steering Committee conducted an Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) for the Social Justice centre (LSJC), supported under the Haki Mtaani Project.

This assessment aims to identify, strengthen the institutional, operational, and programmatic capacity of the centres to effectively advance social justice, accountability, and community empowerment actions collectively.

Social Justice Centres Working Group mediation training, led by . Mediation is a method of alternative dispute resolution where a neutral third party facilitates discussions between two or more parties to help them reach a mutually agreeable solution.

The mediator does not make decisions for the parties but guides them through the process, encouraging open communication and collaboration.
