We recently visited the schools we partner with in Kongowea Area, including Kongowea Primary School, Kengeleni Primary School, Maweni Primary School, Khadija Primary School, and Pentrose Community School.

These schools play a vital role in our work, as many of the students we support through our sponsorship programme come from these learning institutions. They are also key partners in our Global Schools Project, which connects students in Kenya with their peers in the UK through interactive online sessions.

We were warmly welcomed by all the schools, and it was encouraging to hear their continued commitment and enthusiasm for working alongside Kids League Kenya. Together, we are creating opportunities, building connections, and helping young people reach their full potential. πŸ’™βœ¨

Mercy is a bright and determined student who scored over 60 points in her Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA). 🌟 Despite facing many challenges at home, she remained focused and worked incredibly hard in her studies.

She was deeply grateful for getting the opportunity to join Junior Secondary School and continue pursuing her education. πŸ’™

Although she did not perform very well in her mid-term examinations, as she was still adjusting to her new school environment, she showed great improvement during her end-of-term exams and achieved impressive results.

Mercy’s story could have been very different without this scholarship opportunity, but today we believe she has a real chance to build a brighter future and achieve her dreams. ✨

Baraka was slowly losing hope of joining secondary school when our staff visited his home during the selection process. Despite performing very well in his Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) exams, life at home was not easy.

His mother, a single parent raising two children on her own, survives through a small business selling samosas and fried potatoes near their home. She also shared with us that she trained as a lower primary teacher, but despite many applications, she has never secured permanent employment. From time to time, she is called to tutor children at home just to earn something small for the family.

Throughout the home visits and interviews, one thing Baraka kept repeating was: β€œI will work hard and make sure I get good grades. I will always be grateful for this opportunity.”

When schools closed for the April holidays, Baraka visited our office carrying his report form and a handwritten letter to his sponsor. He had performed very well in his first term and promised to continue working hard in his studies.

Stories like Baraka’s remind us that many bright students are only one opportunity away from changing their lives forever. πŸ’™

You can help a student stay in school and achieve their dreams by supporting their education.
