Today, our hearts are full of gratitude.
Earlier today, we celebrated a beautiful milestone with our children at Kurunzi Cerebral Palsy Center. We witnessed children who once struggled to hold their heads up now gaining neck control, and others who can now sit independently.
These may look like small steps to some, but to a parent of a child with cerebral palsy, these are BIG victories. Every little movement, every new skill, every smile is a reminder that progress is possible when a child is given the right support, therapy, love and patience.
Today was also more than therapy. Through the kindness of our partners, we were privileged to share food supplies with some of our parents. Because at Kurunzi, we understand that supporting a child also means standing beside the family raising that child.
Kurunzi is not just a centre. Kurunzi is a family.
A family where we share hope when the journey feels difficult.
Where we celebrate one another's victories.
Where a smile can bring comfort.
Where love reminds us that no parent should walk this journey alone.
We thank God for the unity, strength and love that continues to grow within our Kurunzi family.
And to every donor, partner, well-wisher, volunteer and friend who has believed in the Kurunzi vision—thank you. Your support is not just helping us run a centre. You are helping a child sit, move, communicate, grow and believe in what is possible. You are giving parents hope.
There are still many children waiting for therapy and many families who need support.
Together, we can turn more little steps into big milestones.
Together, we can give more children the opportunity to shine.
This is Kurunzi. This is our family. This is the light we are building together.

WHEN A CHILD IS BORN WITH A DISABILITY, WHY IS THE MOTHER BLAMED?
Let me ask something that has been on my heart.
Why is it that when a child is diagnosed with a disability or special need, some men choose to walk away?
And somehow, the blame falls on the mother.
“She must have done something wrong.”
“She is cursed.”
“Maybe she has an evil spirit.”
“Maybe God is punishing her.”
But wait… does God really hate a woman that much?
Is a child with a disability a punishment for a mother's sins?
No. A child is not a curse. A child is not a punishment.
When a woman is pregnant, nobody knows exactly what she carries. We pray, we hope, we prepare for our babies—but none of us has the power to choose which child will come into our lives.
And then, after the diagnosis, some mothers are left alone.
The man who once said, “I love you, I will always be there,” suddenly walks away.
Then come the painful words from family and society.
A mother-in-law saying, “Achana na kijana yangu.”
A sister-in-law saying things that break her heart.
And the mother is left asking herself, “Why me? How will I raise this child alone? What about my other children?”
This is where the stress, loneliness and tears begin.
But sometimes, what we call a curse is simply lack of awareness.
Especially when we talk about cerebral palsy. It can happen before, during or after birth. It is not proof that a mother sinned. It is not a punishment from God.
We need to stop blaming mothers.
We need to stop stigmatizing children.
Tuache unyanyapaa.
These mothers need support, not judgment.
These children need love, therapy, education and an opportunity to participate in society.
And fathers—your child still needs you. Disability does not remove your responsibility to love and support your child.
Tuwape watoto wetu nafasi katika jamii.
Because these children are not a punishment.
They are our children. They belong here. ❤️

ONE WEEK OF CONNECTION, LOVE AND HOPE AT KURUNZI
This past week, Kurunzi Cerebral Palsy Center had the great honour of welcoming our wonderful visitors from Spain. 🇪🇸❤️🇰🇪
What started as a one-week programme became a beautiful journey of connection, learning, friendship and shared humanity. Our visitors spent meaningful time with our children, parents and caregivers—listening to their stories, sharing laughter, offering encouragement, and creating memories that will remain in our hearts for a long time.
For us at Kurunzi, moments like these remind us that when people come together with love and compassion, possibilities become endless.
We are deeply grateful to our visitors for choosing to spend part of their journey with us and for opening their hearts to our community. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Yunis, who connected us with these wonderful visitors and helped make this beautiful experience possible.
As our one-week programme comes to an end, we are reminded that the journey of supporting children with cerebral palsy and their families continues every day.
At Kurunzi, we believe that every child deserves an opportunity to reach their full potential, every parent deserves support, and every family deserves hope.
Our journey is only possible because of people who believe in our vision and choose to walk with us.
To our partners, friends, well-wishers, and everyone who continues to believe in Kurunzi—thank you.
If you would like to be part of our journey and help us create more possibilities for children with cerebral palsy and their families, we welcome you to walk with us. Together, we can bring more light, hope and possibilities to the lives of children and families who need us most.
You can be part of the change. You can be part of the light.

Yesterday, we had a very engaging and informative session with parents and caregivers at Kurunzi Cerebral Palsy Center, focusing on family health, nutrition, and mental well-being.
Madam Edna, a nurse from Bamburi Health Centre, educated parents on family planning and the different methods available, emphasizing the importance of making informed choices for the health and well-being of families.
Madam Faith from Bamburi Health Centre shared valuable information on the importance of a balanced diet and the role of Vitamin D in the growth and development of children. She encouraged parents to ensure that their children receive adequate exposure to sunlight and not to keep them hidden, as safe sunlight exposure is an important source of Vitamin D.
Madam Beatrice, a psychologist from Spain, also shared words of encouragement with our parents and caregivers. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing our mental health, reminding us that as caregivers, our special children depend on our strength, love, and well-being.
We are deeply grateful to all the professionals who took their time to share their knowledge, encouragement, and support with our Kurunzi family. Together, we continue to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge and confidence they need to support their children and build healthier, stronger families.

Partnerships create impact.
Yesterday, Kurunzi Cerebral Palsy Center together with PESAID came together for a beach therapy and caregiver support session aimed at improving the wellbeing of children with cerebral palsy and empowering their families.
This collaboration brought together parents, therapists, and a psychologist to provide therapy, emotional support, awareness, and encouragement in a safe and refreshing environment.
At Kurunzi, we believe that every child deserves care, dignity, inclusion, and the opportunity to thrive regardless of their condition.
We sincerely appreciate partners, donors, and well-wishers who continue to stand with us and make such impactful programs possible. Your support is changing lives and restoring hope to many families.
