TTP Annual Convening 2026 | Entebbe, Uganda 🇺🇬

Akilimali Associate (ASO) was privileged to participate in the TTP 2026 Annual Convening, held in Entebbe, Uganda, from 22nd–25th September, bringing together partners and implementers of the Thriving Through Play (TTP) programme funded by the Global Fund for Children (GFC) across Kenya and Uganda.

Under the theme “Stronger Together,” the convening created space to reflect on the programme’s journey, shape future priorities, and strengthen collaboration, partnerships, and collective action among implementers.

Together, we learn. Together, we collaborate. Together, we build stronger pathways for children and communities to thrive.

TTP FUN DAY 2026 — HEALING HEARTS, BUILDING HOPE

Saturday, 19th September 2026, was truly a day to remember at Mwangala Primary School as children, parents, teachers, and partners came together for the Thriving Through Play (TTP) Fun Day 2026.

From the moment the day began, the atmosphere was LIVE! The smiles, laughter, music, dancing, games, shangwe and pure excitement filled the space with an incredible vibe.

Our TTP beneficiaries from Mishi Mboko, Mweza, Vijiweni and Mwangala Primary Schools enjoyed a day packed with fun and creativity from sack races, tug of war, face painting, Drawing and eating competitions to poetry, dancing and other engaging activities.

Beyond the fun, the day carried a deeper message: healing, connection, wellbeing and hope. Through play and shared experiences, children and parents were given a safe and joyful space to connect, express themselves and simply enjoy being together.

A special thank you to Mental Heroes Kenya for joining us and supporting the event, and to the Global Fund for Children (GFC) for funding the Thriving Through Play programme.

At TTP, we believe that when children are given space to play, connect and feel supported, we help create a foundation for healthier and brighter futures.

TODAY MARKED AN IMPORTANT BEGINNING FOR COHORT 2!

Following the successful completion of Cohort 1, the Jamii Safe Space & Livelihood Program has officially moved into Cohort 2.

Today, our mentees came together for an exciting first step: selecting the skills they want to learn, meeting their tutors, and planning their training schedules. With the timetable set, practical training begins this Thursday.

Mentees will train in Baking, Leather Shoe Making, Tailoring, Photography, Social Media Management, Beauty and Henna — skills designed to create pathways to income, confidence and greater independence.

This program was born from a simple question our mentees asked after completing 10 sessions of Trauma Healing: “What next?” Today, we are helping answer that question with skills, opportunity and hope.

Building Resilience Through Community

We successfully held a dialogue with parents of TTP students from Mweza, Vijiweni, and Mwangala Schools in Likoni.

The strong participation and openness from parents reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Thriving Through Play (TTP) Project, funded by the Global Fund for Children (GFC). Their voices reflected hope and appreciation for the positive changes and joy the initiative is bringing to their children.

When parents, schools, and communities come together, we create safe spaces where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.

This is more than a dialogue—it is a step towards healing, resilience, and restoring hope in our communities.
