Dialogue is not a debate; it is a constructive exchange founded on respect, understanding, and effective communication.

Despite our differences in culture, race, religion, attitudes, and perspectives, dialogue promotes mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence.

While conflict is inevitable in human interaction, meaningful dialogue provides a path toward resolution, cooperation, and unity.

CollaborationofWomen InDevelopment conducted an Endline project evaluation for Tabasamu ya Wamama Iniatitive Project in Kisauni, Nyali, Jomvu and Likoni Sub-Counties bringing together key right holders and duty bearers on the impact of the initiative.

The engagement involved Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions(FGDs), Persons With Disabilities(PWDs) and Community groups whose participation remains central to the projectโ€™s vision.

The Endline evaluation focused on how the project has supported youths' and womenโ€™s empowerment, inclusive governance and democracy, strengthened climate justice and livelihoods, and how it has enhanced community resilience and adaptation while identifying opportunities for growth and sustainability.

Through initiatives like Tabasamu ya Wamama, women continue to play a critical role in driving social and economic transformation at the grassroots level.

According to the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025, a person with a disability is someone who has a long-term condition. This condition may be physical, mental, intellectual, developmental, or sensory.

But hereโ€™s the key part ๐Ÿ‘‡
Disability is not just about the condition itself.

Many of the challenges people with disabilities face arise because of barriers in the environmentlike inaccessible buildings, lack of information in accessible formats or negative attitudes from society.

In other words, when spaces, systems, and mindsets are inclusive, people with disabilities can fully participate and thrive.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Disability is not inability.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Inclusion removes barriers.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Attitudes matter as much as access.

Letโ€™s build a society where difference is respected, barriers are removed, and everyone belongs.

Today, Likoni Ability Network (LAN) had the honour of participating in a meaningful meeting on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), organized in collaboration with Women Spaces Africa, Amazing Group PWD (CBO), and EL-AFA (E-Lite Ability Foundation Africa). This powerful engagement brought together community members, advocates, and partners to discuss the realities of GBV, especially as it affects women, girls, and persons with disabilities.
The session created a safe space for open dialogue, learning, and shared experiences, while also highlighting the importance of inclusion, dignity, and equity for all. We were reminded that addressing GBV requires collective action, strong partnerships, and continuous community sensitization.
At LAN, we remain committed to advocating for the rights, protection, and empowerment of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. Together with our partners, we will continue to raise awareness, strengthen support systems, and work towards building safer, more inclusive communities free from violence.
Together, we can break barriers, amplify voices, and create lasting change.

Early yesterday, Dream Achievers Youth Organization (DAYO) hosted Global Social Development Innovations (GSDI) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hillโ€™s School of Social Work, alongside our partner Likoni Ability Network (LAN), to explore opportunities for partnership and collaboration. GSDIโ€™s commitment to advancing evidence-based solutions for vulnerable populationsโ€”particularly youth and familiesโ€”strongly aligns with DAYOโ€™s mission, especially in youth socioeconomic empowerment. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to share our work and discuss areas of mutual interest for future collaboration.
