On Friday, Likoni Ability Network participated in a climate change meeting hosted by ELAFA. The discussion focused on understanding climate change, its effects, and the unique challenges faced by persons with disabilities during climate-related disasters.
We emphasized the importance of meaningfully including persons with disabilities in climate change planning, preparedness, response, and decision-making. Disability inclusion must be at the heart of climate action.

Likoni Ability Network was honoured to host Stretchers Youth Organization at our office compound in Mtongwe for the Ride for Peace 2027 – Peace and Security Town Hall Meeting.

Together with community leaders, boda boda riders, youth, women, religious leaders, and security actors, we shared ideas on strengthening peace, security, and inclusion in Likoni.

As LAN, we believe peace is a shared responsibility, and every voice matters—including persons with disabilities.

Likoni Ability network Organization participated in a three-day re-engagement training under the Inuka Ni Sisi programme, facilitated by Maskani Ya Taifa through the Maskani Mombasa Hub.

The training focused on strengthening youth leadership, civic engagement, and digital advocacy. The practical skills gained in social media for advocacy, digital storytelling, narrative framing, and responsible online engagement help us to better amplify community voices, promote accountability, and drive positive social change.

Likoni Ability Network Organization today participated in Public Participation Forum on the Draft Campaign Financing Regulations 2026 and Proposed Contributions and Spending Limits, held at Tononoka Hall, Mombasa.
The forum provided an important platform for stakeholders to review the draft regulations and submit recommendations aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, fairness, and electoral integrity in Kenya. As an organization committed to promoting democratic governance and meaningful citizen participation, we actively reviewed the draft document and presented our inputs for consideration and inclusion in the final regulations.
We appreciate the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) for creating an inclusive space where citizens and civil society organizations can contribute to shaping policies that will enhance free, fair, and credible elections.

participated in a citizen engagement forum on Fiscal Governance and the Role of Social Movements in Advancing Transparency, Accountability, and Responsible Borrowing, convened by The Institute for Social Accountability Tisa Kenya in partnership with Ni Sisi.

The engagement created an important platform for dialogue on the state of public finance management, citizen oversight, public debt, and the role of social movements in strengthening democratic governance. Participants explored how informed citizens, civil society organizations, youth groups, and grassroots movements can collectively advocate for prudent public resource management, transparent budgeting processes, and greater accountability in government borrowing and expenditure.

Strengthening Inclusive Democracy Through Civic Engagement
On Thursday, Likoni Ability Network hosted a fruitful and engaging dialogue with leaders with disabilities from across Likoni Sub-County on public participation and the electoral process in Kenya.
The session, facilitated by Kwacha Africa, focused on empowering persons with disabilities with knowledge, promoting meaningful participation in governance, and advocating for inclusive, accessible, and fair electoral processes.
Together, we continue to champion the voices of persons with disabilities, ensuring that no one is left behind in shaping the future of our communities and our nation.
