Meaningful citizen participation is the cornerstone of transparent, accountable, and responsive governance. When citizens are empowered to understand and engage in public finance processes, they become active contributors in shaping policies that promote equitable development and sustainable economic growth.
Likoni Ability Network Organization
participated in a citizen engagement forum on Fiscal Governance and the Role of Social Movements in Advancing Transparency, Accountability, and Responsible Borrowing, convened by The Institute for Social Accountability Tisa Kenya in partnership with Ni Sisi.
The engagement created an important platform for dialogue on the state of public finance management, citizen oversight, public debt, and the role of social movements in strengthening democratic governance. Participants explored how informed citizens, civil society organizations, youth groups, and grassroots movements can collectively advocate for prudent public resource management, transparent budgeting processes, and greater accountability in government borrowing and expenditure.
