Yesterday Gender Action Empowering Communities joined fellow human rights defenders to mark the 76th International Human Rights Day, convened by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).

The discussions were a powerful reminder that defending rights is not optional — it is a responsibility. We reflected on the urgency of protecting our freedoms, elevating youth voices, and challenging the injustices that continue to silence communities.

As young advocates, we refuse to stand on the sidelines. We remain bold, vocal, and committed to pushing for accountability, dignity, and equality for all. Today strengthened our resolve — we are rising, organizing, and demanding the just society we all deserve.

This year’s powerful theme, “Amplifying Our Voices: Inclusive and Accountable Leadership in the Shrinking Civic Space,” highlights the urgent need to protect democratic spaces while strengthening youth participation in governance and decision-making processes.
