THEIR IS NEED TO DEVELOPE A DOMESTICATED POLICY FRAMEWORK TO GUIDE CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT AND PARTICIPATION IN MIGORI COUNTY.

Earlier to today , alongside Community Budget Champions from a section of Civil Society Organizations in Migori county, held a productive engagement with , Chairperson of the Budget Committee at the Migori County Assembly Hon. Graham Kagali

The meeting focused on the state of public participation and citizen engagement in Migori County, review of the current CIDP, financing of GBV Safe Houses in the FY 2026/2027 Budget, and key findings from the County Budget Transparency Survey (CBTS) report.

The engagement provided an important platform to discuss ways of strengthening transparency, accountability, and meaningful public participation in county planning and budgeting processes. We remain committed to working with stakeholders to promote responsive governance and ensure citizens' voices are reflected in development priorities.

13th May 2026 We submitted a Memorandum to the Kenya National Assembly Budget Committee During a public participation forum on National Budget estimates for the FY 2026/2027 In Homabay County. in collaboration with select Community groups and International Kenya our Memo strongly urges the National Assembly and Treasury to prioritize the establishment of a fully operational safe house in Migori county, Restore the eliminated GBV - BETA allocation and expand survivor protection infrastructure across underserved counties. Our submission further highlights the growing risks facing women and girls including emerging Technology Facilitated Gender Based Violence and the adamant prevailing femicide Nationwide.

Lake Victoria is a shared resource. Whatever happens in Othany beach Siaya County will eventually catch up with the livelihoods and heath of the residents of Mihuru Bay in Migori County. Heads high, we support and join the Our Energy Our Voice Campaign by the Social Justice Centers Working Group Western chapter Social Justice Centers Working Group in a separate call for Accountability and adequate citizen participation on the Nuclear power plant by the Energy department of the government of Kenya.
We call upon residents, Community groups and other allied actors to join the campaign in a bid to educate and sensitize the community about what is at stake.
