In the dry lands of Ngaremara Ward in Isiolo County, where many families have depended on pastoralism for generations, a quiet transformation is taking place. Despite the harsh ASAL conditions, water shortages, insecurity challenges, and displacement that have affected many homes, women in the community are choosing hope over hardship.
Through trainings and support from CIFORD Kenya these strong and determined women have embraced new farming methods and small-scale agriculture to improve their livelihoods and feed their families. What once seemed impossible in such a dry area is now becoming a source of inspiration. Small kitchen gardens, improved farming practices, and collective support among women are slowly changing lives and restoring dignity.
Their journey is a reminder that resilience can grow even in the toughest environments. Every seed planted is a sign of courage. Every harvest, no matter how small, is proof that communities can rise above challenges when given knowledge, support, and opportunity.
These women are not only farming the land, they are planting hope for a stronger, healthier, and more empowered future for their families and the next generation.
