ICIPE-Mbita The Mbita Point Thomas Odhiambo Campus is the main field station of ICIPE, the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology.

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) operates R&D activities at its field station referred to as ICIPE Thomas Odhiambo Campus (ITOC). The facility was initiated in 1977 with the main aim of catering for field research. The campus is located within Mbita Point Township on the shores of Lake Victoria in western Kenya and stands at an altitude of 1240 m above sea level. M

bita area experiences a warm and humid climate suitable for supporting a rich insect biodiversity. This makes it a 'hot-spot' for research on crop pests as well as on vectors of human and animal diseases.
