𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀.
Caritas Marsabit staff gathered for the Q3 reflection workshop to review achievements, discuss challenges, and share lessons across our five programme areas.
Teams explored how community feedback, local knowledge, and collaboration can strengthen our work, while setting priorities for Q4.

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀
Day 4 of our project start-up workshop focused on the systems and partnerships needed for effective project implementation.
The team worked through the Procurement SOP, financial management, and reporting requirements, including practical discussions around the project procurement plan.
A key part of the day was a stakeholder engagement session with GIZ and KfW, where the different projects were presented, and participants explored potential synergies and opportunities for cooperation.
The discussions reinforced an important point: strong programmes depend not only on good interventions, but also on sound systems, accountability and effective partnerships.

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴
Day 2 of the DC-KEN2601 project launch workshop focused on strengthening the foundations for effective, accountable, and safe project implementation.

The team engaged in stakeholder analysis, identified potential risks and opportunities, and explored safeguarding principles, with particular emphasis on safe programming and reporting.

The sessions also covered Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), including a review of project M&E tools and the project indicator matrix to strengthen results tracking and accountability.

Through interactive discussions and group work, participants continued refining the project's implementation approach, ensuring that safeguarding, risk management, and results measurement are integrated from the outset.

Building on experience. Starting a new chapter for resilient communities in Marsabit.

Today, Caritas Marsabit and Hoffnungszeichen | Sign of Hope began the start-up workshop for DC-KEN26.01 – Building Resilient Communities through Climate-Sensitive Subsistence Farming, Sustainable Water Supply and Peace-Building in Marsabit County.

Day One focused on building a shared understanding of the project—from the problems it seeks to address to the changes we want to achieve and how we intend to get there.

Together, the teams examined the problem and solution analysis, intervention logic, project roles and responsibilities, sustainability, and exit strategy.

An important part of the conversation was reflecting on lessons from the recently concluded DC-KEN23.01 and other related interventions—identifying what worked, what we learned and what should be adapted as we begin DC-KEN26.01.

The new project will bring together water and sanitation, climate resilience, natural resource management, peacebuilding and diversified livelihoods, with particular attention to women, young people and other vulnerable groups.

Caritas Marsabit, in partnership with Malteser International, joined the County Health Management Team for a monitoring visit to an integrated health and nutrition outreach in Nebey Village under the MIEPA Project.

The team also handed over essential medicines and nutrition commodities to Farakoren Health Facility to address critical shortages and strengthen service delivery.

🌍 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱-𝘁𝗼-𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

Through the MIEPA Project, Caritas Marsabit, in partnership with Malteser International and in collaboration with County and Sub-County Health Management Teams, supported the distribution and handover of essential medicines and nutrition commodities to 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶-𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗮 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.

The support includes essential and emergency therapeutic medicines, as well as nutrition commodities, including Super Cereal Plus (CSB+), helping address critical commodity gaps and sustain essential health and nutrition services.

The distribution was accompanied by a joint monitoring exercise to review service delivery, assess commodity availability and utilization, and identify areas for improvement.

Together, we continue strengthening health facilities and bringing essential services closer to communities in hard-to-reach areas of Marsabit County.

Strengthening Health and Nutrition Services in Hard-to-Reach Areas
The MIEPA Project, implemented by Caritas Marsabit in partnership with Malteser International, continues to strengthen health and nutrition service delivery in hard-to-reach areas through close collaboration with the County and Sub-County Health Management Teams.
Today, the project team, together with the county health team, conducted the distribution and handover of essential medicines and nutrition commodities to Korr Health Centre and Burri-Aramia Health Facility. The support includes the provision of essential and emergency therapeutic medicines, as well as targeted supplementary feeding commodities, including CSB+, helping to address critical commodity gaps and sustain essential health and nutrition services.
The distribution and handover were accompanied by a joint project monitoring exercise, providing an opportunity for the project and government health teams to review service delivery, assess commodity availability and utilization, identify implementation gaps, and strengthen coordination to enhance the quality of services provided to communities.
This support complements the project's ongoing integrated outreach services, through which essential health and nutrition services are brought closer to communities in hard-to-reach areas. The project has also supported outreach services through the provision of anthropometric equipment, tents, chairs and tables, strengthening the capacity of outreach teams to deliver quality services in remote communities.
The County and Sub-County health teams expressed their appreciation for the continued support, particularly at a time when many nutrition commodities are currently out of stock in health facilities. The timely provision of essential medicines and nutrition commodities is helping bridge critical gaps and support continued access to essential services for vulnerable communities.
Through continued collaboration with government health structures, Caritas Marsabit and Malteser International remain committed to strengthening health facilities, supporting integrated outreach services, and ensuring that communities in hard-to-reach areas are not left behind.

𝗔 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. 𝗔 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁.

Today, Caritas Marsabit staff welcomed a team from Caritas Germany to discuss how our strengths could help deliver more sustainable interventions in Marsabit.

Our team shared the technologies and programme innovations we use to respond to changing challenges. We also brought to the discussion more than five decades of local experience and relationships with the communities we serve.

Caritas Germany has long supported our emergency and humanitarian work. Today was an opportunity to listen, learn, and explore where we could work together next.

A new project. A shared commitment to children's well-being!

Caritas Marsabit held an inception meeting with staff for the newly initiated Kindermissionswerk-supported project focusing on nutrition, education, and child protection.

The team aligned on project objectives, implementation priorities, and responsibilities to ensure effective project delivery.

𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸. 🕊️

Today at 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗼, Caritas Marsabit facilitated a peace dialogue between 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, bringing together community members, peace champions, local and administrative leaders, security officers, and other peace stakeholders.

With 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲, herders are moving towards shared and border grazing areas. This increased interaction has raised concerns about possible tensions and conflict.

The Buro dialogue created a safe space for the two communities to 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁, 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻, 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲.

A key outcome was the formation of a 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗮–𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 to maintain communication, strengthen early warning and support peaceful engagement even after other stakeholders leave.
