On 15th January 2026 Kinango Human Rights Network held an engagement forum at Samburu Social Hall which brought together Madam Edith Kalo County Director NEMA, Samburu DCC represented by senior chief Mundu, Samburu ward administrator and community members from Kasemeni, Mwavumbo and Samburu wards. This is under PROCEDURAL ENVIRONMENTAL RIGHTS AS A TOOL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND EFFECTIVE GOVERNANCE project which is funded by EU through HAKI NI YETU consortium.

We conducted a Community Awareness Forum on Procedural Environmental Rights at Samburu Social Hall.

The session focused on empowering community members with knowledge about their rights to access environmental information, participate in environmental decision-making, and seek environmental justice.

We engaged in open discussions, shared practical examples, and encouraged the community to take an active role in protecting their environment. The turnout was inspiring, and the conversations were meaningful, showing a strong commitment to safeguarding our natural resources and ensuring a healthier future for everyone.

Yesterday, we conducted our Community Awareness Forum at Kalalani, Mwavumbo Ward.
We had the opportunity to meet community members and discuss key issues on Procedural Environmental Rights, with emphasis on:

1. Access to Information
2. Public Participation
3. Access to Justice

It was a productive session that strengthened our shared commitment to environmental governance and community empowerment.
