The call for change is clear. The time for action is now.

Through the Naitengen Mentorship Project (NMP), Samburu Girls Foundation is bringing communities together to have meaningful conversations and take action against harmful practices, including FGM and child marriage.

We engage morans, young women, elders, men and women across the community, creating spaces to reflect on harmful social norms, challenge practices that affect girls and young women, and explore how each of us can contribute to positive change.

But conversations alone are not enough.

We need communities to speak up. We need individuals to take responsibility. We need collective action to challenge harmful practices and promote positive social norms.

Ending harmful practices is not the responsibility of one person, one group or one organisation. It is a shared responsibility.

Today, we call on all of us to speak, listen, question, support and act.

Together, we can create communities where every girl is safe, valued, empowered and free to shape her own future.

Through the Biotisho E’ Nkera Project, we recently conducted community-based training sessions with expectant mothers and caregivers across villages in Loosuk Ward, creating a space for learning, practical skills, and meaningful conversations around maternal and child health.

The sessions covered key areas that contribute to a healthy start in life, including maternal and child nutrition, breastfeeding, essential supplements, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and healthy practices during pregnancy and early childhood.

We also held hands-on cooking demonstrations, showing mothers and caregivers how locally available and affordable foods can be combined to prepare diverse, nutritious meals for pregnant women and young children.

From understanding the importance of proper nutrition during pregnancy, to learning about breastfeeding and supplementation, practising good hygiene, and making healthier food choices at home, the trainings focused on turning knowledge into everyday action.

Because giving children a healthy start begins with healthy mothers, informed caregivers, and strong families.

Back to School 📚💜

May this term be filled with courage to ask questions, confidence to use your voice, friendships that inspire you, and the determination to keep learning even when the journey gets tough.

Your education is more than a classroom. It is a pathway to choice, opportunity, and the future you envision.

Go back. Show up. Keep learning. Keep becoming.

Day 2 of the Naitengen Mentorship Bootcamp shifted the conversation from self-discovery to confidence, choices and collective voice.

Through conversations around education and careers, healthy relationships, consent, decision-making, teamwork and self-expression, the girls explored the tools they need to navigate their present and shape their future.

A key part of the day focused on the SGF Girls Council,creating space for girls to reflect on its role, structure and effectiveness, share their expectations, and envision how it can become a stronger platform for girls’ voices, representation and advocacy.

Because meaningful participation goes beyond having a seat at the table. It means having the confidence to speak, the opportunity to be heard, and the power to influence decisions that affect your life.

Day 1 of the Naitengen Mentorship Bootcamp brought together 300 girls from the Loosuk community and from our SGF Resource Centre , for a day of learning, reflection, connection and self-discovery. 💜

Through interactive mentorship sessions, the girls explored self-awareness and leadership, career aspirations and education pathways, sexual and reproductive health and rights, personal safety, and talent development.

It was a powerful start to creating a safe space where girls can ask questions, discover their strengths, dream boldly and gain the confidence to shape their futures.

Joy and pride filled the hearts of Nabulaa Accelerated Learning Program (NALP) parents and guardians as they proudly held their children's birth certificates and graduation certificates celebrating not just a graduation, but the journey, resilience, and progress behind each achievement.

These certificates represent more than pieces of paper; they are symbols of identity, achievement, hope, and new beginnings as our NALP graduates prepare to transition into mainstream schooling.

Together, we celebrate the learners, their families, and the communities that continue to believe in the power of education.

Through the distribution of school uniforms across our NALP clusters, we are helping remove barriers to education and ensuring more children step into school with confidence, pride, and the opportunity to thrive.

🎓 Congratulations to the NALP Lesirikan Cohort 2025-2026! 🎉

We proudly celebrated a significant milestone as 37 learners successfully graduated from the Nabulaa Accelerated Learning Program (NALP) during their graduation ceremony at Lesirikan.

The event also marked another important achievement, with 15 birth certificates issued, strengthening learners' access to legal identity and opening doors to continued education and other essential services.

This achievement reflects the dedication of our learners and the unwavering support of parents, caregivers, teachers, local leaders, and the entire Lesirikan community. Together, we are transforming lives through education and ensuring that no child is left behind.

We congratulate all our graduates and wish them every success as they transition into mainstream schooling. May they continue to learn, grow, and thrive as they pursue their dreams.
