Samburu Children’s Program (SCP) is is a local NGO that has been formed through the merger of five CBOs in 2016. The five merged CBOs were Nyuat Integrated Programme, Elbarta Child and Family Programme, Barsaloi Child Care Project, Leroki Child Care Programme and Amani Pastoralist Development Initiative, all of which were affiliated to ChildFund Kenya in 1974, 1976, 1982 and 2002 respectively. Currently SCP has 39 staffs. The organisation also works with a team of approximately 37 Sponsor relation volunteers who assist in sponsorship activities and 256 mentors who also assists in Girl -H programs and activities under the USAID Nawiri grants. SCP implements program interventions in areas focusing on child wellbeing including Child protection, Early childhood education, health & nutrition, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), adolescent reproductive health and youth and women economic strengthening and empowerment, climate change, Peace building, DRR, livelihood programs e.g OFSP to reduce persistent malnutrition in Samburu county. The organisation actively participate in county level development activities through participation and collaboration with both Sub County and County steering committees. It also partners and collaborates with other local likeminded NGO’s and CBO’s working in the Samburu county.
