The political landscape shows clear divisions between Ruto/Raila strongholds and opposition strongholds.

Ruto/Raila Strongholds:

1. Nyanza: 95% support for Ruto/Raila

2. Rift Valley: 88% support for Ruto/Raila

3. Nairobi: 65% support for Ruto/Raila

4. Coast: 85% support for Ruto/Raila

5. North Eastern: 95% support for Ruto/Raila

6. Western: 70% support for Ruto/Raila

Opposition Strongholds:

1. Mt. Kenya: 95 % opposed to Ruto/Raila

2. Ukambani: 90% opposed to Ruto/Raila

For the first time, Ruto will do a headcount in Molima. We'll know exactly how many they are.

Our story

Bunge La Mwananchi is a countrywide social movement bringing together members spread across the 47 counties of Kenya.

The movement began in the early 1990s at the time of the clamor for political pluralism and agitation for expansion of human rights and democratic space during the height of the KANU kleptocracy. At that time, Kenyans would converge at public grounds in major towns to share their frustrations at then ruling dictatorship and in hushed tones would discuss ways of bringing about peaceful change and the overhaul of the constitution which seemed to protect only the ruling elite.

From such humble beginnings was born a vibrant mass movement that was aptly named BUNGE LA MWANANCHI (BLM). The movement has evolved into a major force in the social-political arena of Kenya and has greatly contributed to shaping the discourse in our country.

CORE MANDATE

Civic Education

Devolution: Defending and supporting all aspects of political and economic devolution in line with our new constitution

Fair Representation: Agitation for fair representation of all Kenyan communities in both elective and appointive positions to ensure a national face

Rule of law: To ensure that Kenyans understand the importance of fidelity to the rule of law both in their public and private engagement

Electoral process: To see to it that all qualified Kenyans take part in the electoral process both as voters and as defenders of their right to elect their leaders in free, fair, credible and transparent process.

Empowerment of minorities and PLWD: To sensitize Kenyans who are minorities/marginalized or those living with disabilities on their rights and on how to defend those rights

Public participation in decision making: To mobilize Kenyans though public forums to play an oversight role in governance.

Advocacy

Public litigation: To partner with friendly organizations/government to institute lawful suits on behalf of the oppressed or those whose rights have been infringed on and can ill-afford legal fees to seek redress in court

Peaceful demonstrations: To organize members of the public to assemble and picket to press the authorities to take action on any pertinent national issue

Whistle-blowing: To bring to the attention of Kenyans any criminal or unlawful actions of those in authority

Public petitions: To institute petitions on behalf of the public on matters touching on national interest.

Grassroots Political Education/Action

Educate, organize and recruit member activists to accomplish the goals of BLM through collective grassroots political action and policy advocacy efforts.
